Stop trying to win a mediocre 85 before first acquiring the championship caliber core players ie HOFers

Absolutely correct.
Sustainable mediocrity, a phrase I coined several years ago for all here to understand that which I was first to identify and analyze as being the defining characteristic of the franchise, is the enemy of actual success.
The team must get to 85-86 wins in 2026 (easily accomplished with the blueprint I provided) to create a foundational base on which to build but nothing less than a full commitment to seeking 90+ wins every year is acceptable.
And that must mean trading or buying talent where needed to fill roster holes.
Right now, the team needs 3 specific additions and 3 specific subtractions.

One subtraction would be getting rid of the Unicorn.

Certainly one path Bloom could take.
It would be a mistake, obviously, to trade Gorma this off-season.
But Bloom might well do so.
