Baseball is dead to me
Unless owners institute a salary cap, I’m outta here. I’ve been a fan since 1960. I won’t watch, read or discuss the game ever again. It is a travesty that Dodgers can just buy the best team. So I really enjoyed being a part of Cards talk and wish all of you guys and gals the best going forward. God Bless.

This is what confuses me about people who griped about selling at the deadline. What did they see that they felt we could beat LA.swatski wrote: ↑01 Nov 2025 23:35 pm Unless owners institute a salary cap, I’m outta here. I’ve been a fan since 1960. This is going to get real dark for STL. I fully believe DeWitts plan is to get a salary cap and when that fails he will refuse to seriously build a winner turning this team into what Angelos turned the Orioles into for decades. It maybe generations before STL sees another World Series.

And if the team with only 2 prior all-time WS championships had won.
And also because that team that had the 5th highest payroll most likely won't be that high next season, where as the team that had the highest and won it, will most likely have the highest again, and even more so, with odd they'll sign the best available player - Tucker - to a huge deferred deal and look to be back here again for a 3rd time next fall. One more year, then labor Armageddon.

We don’t need to burn it down imo.
The Cards need a top 3 front office and a new, great ownership group. Is that a big ask? Very much so.
Anything less than those two and competing for championships isnt a serious possibility.

As much as I think I want to, I can’t get behind a salary cap. If our bosses were making several billion off of our work, we’d want several million too.swatski wrote: ↑01 Nov 2025 23:35 pm Unless owners institute a salary cap, I’m outta here. No one is putting a profit cap on owners and their $15 beers, ever-rising ticket prices, [shirt]ty corporate ads on uniforms, other branding and marketing revenue, baseball villages, profit sharing revenue…which supposed “small market” teams get from the likes of the big bad Dodgers, but they don’t reinvest that money into their team and instead blame the fans for not buying tickets to their inferior product.
Competitive balance should come from taking advantage of favorable draft positioning
when finishing poorly, investing competitive balance funds into their own teams, smart contract structure (see Ohtani deal), innovative player development, and smart spending. Not communism.
Re: Baseball is dead to me
MLB does need some sort of Salary Cap but I’ll keep watching.
Go Cards!
Go Cards!
