Do you know how many times the Cardinals won a 7-game WS championship ?

Most all Cardinal fans readily know that the Cardinals have won 11 WS championships. Heck , the flags are flying at Busch Stadium for fans to see both in person and shown on TV thousands of times . Of those 11 WS titles though, probably few could tell you how many of those championships were won in a Game 7 finale. If your answer was 8 , you win a prize ! The Cardinals were in a Game 7 situation 10 times in their history .
They have an outstanding record of 8 out of 10 titles when going 7 games.
So 8 of their 11 championships went the full 7 games.

For those of you like me (age in 70's ), you have seen 6 series go the full boat. 1964, 67, 68, 82, 85, 2011
Those in age 50's bracket most likely have seen just that last three 82 85 and 2011

BTW for your info .. the WS has gone 7 games 40 times !

We all know the Cardinals have the most NL WS titles with 11 . The Dodgers are next in the NL with 8 . Tonight , they are hoping to get their 9 title and draw within 2 of the Cardinals !

I feel fortunate to have enjoyed watching the Cardinals win 4 of the 6 during my lifetime . How many for you ?

Here’s one. Both the Yanks and Cards lead respective leagues in WS titles; yet have not met since 64, 61 seasons. I for one am intrigued.

that is interesting but remember the mathematical odds of two teams meeeting each other in recent times is much less than years ago .
Today we have 15 teams in each league . Back when the Yankees and Cardinals met more often , there were just 8 teams in each league.

When I was growing up thru my teens etc. , only the winning team of the league went to the WS. from that group of 8 . now you have to go thru multiple team playoffs .

My younger brother was a Yankees fan and I was bragging one time about the Cardinals 11 WS wins.

He said, yeah, but who had won more between the Yankees and Cardinals?

I said Cardinals; they have beaten the Yankees 3 times out of 5 WS they have played head to head!
