Second and third- nobody out- bottom ninth
Good morning.
I think it was second and third, not bases loaded. Either way, no score.
First hitter pop up to first- one out. Next hitter hits texas leaguer into shallow outfield. KeKe Hernandez snags it, and throws to second to double off a head first sliding runner. Three outs.
Just think. Home- bottom of nine, second third with no outs, in WS clinching game. And don’t score.
Now that’s a gut punch.

The runner that gets doubled up was the tying run, with one out. He must have thought it would fall n and wanted a bigger jump. Got too far off.

Here's my question, that double that hit the bottom of the wall, why couldn't the player just go get the ball because it was in play, not under the wall?

Angers me because I don't care who wins I just want the dodgers to lose. And here they have a chance to do something historic like a possible walk off homer to win it all and it ends like that. I felt like they needed to win last night as a game 7 anything can happen and I just know the annoying (donkey) dodgers are gonna win now

Probably cost the Blue Jays the series.

I hear ya. Nothing being made of that call, but it costs Toronto a run, and maybe a triple, with none out.
Big call.

The Dodger outfielder was smart. He knew the rule on stuck baseballs and took advantage of it.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑01 Nov 2025 08:00 amI hear ya. Nothing being made of that call, but it costs Toronto a run, and maybe a triple, with none out.

This is nothing new or even rare. It happens at Wrigley Field several times each season due to the ivy. National League outfielders should be well aware of the rule since they all play at Wrigley several times per season.
That said, it’s rare to see it in other ballparks other than The Friendly Confines.

I think the rule stopped a run and maybe a triple. I mean, that’s the rules. You’d think in this era, other than wrigley and the ivy, that the padding would be higher enough to not lodge a ball.Hazelwood72 wrote: ↑01 Nov 2025 08:33 amBecause he didn’t want to! He was smart and knew the rules. See my answer to SikesDawg above.

I agree — it definitely cost the Jays a run. The batter may or may not have got a triple depending on the bounce off the wallsikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑01 Nov 2025 08:37 amI think the rule stopped a run and maybe a triple. (Which, of course didn’t happen).
And yes, most ballparks have that padding end about a foot off the ground so that the ball doesn’t lodge between the pad and the ground!!

Re: Second and third- nobody out- bottom ninth
He was halfway to third when the ball was caught. Little league stuff.
And the previous batter, hacking at the first pitch and getting an infield pop up... ug.
Just when you think they might pull it out, it turns into a classic WS choke. Wouldn't be surprised if the Dodgers blow them out tonight.
Re: Second and third- nobody out- bottom ninth
It was a smart play by the center fielder to throw his hands up because the ball was wedged under the wall pad. Crazy that actually happened on that swing in that moment of the game.
Barger has been really fun to watch this post season, but that was a brutal base running error. It felt like everything was leading up to George Springer digging into the box with a chance to win the WS with 1 grimacing swing of the bat.
I immediately thought of Kolten Wong getting picked off to end game 4 of the ‘13 WS. Some guy named Carlos Beltran was at the plate representing the tying run and we never got to see it play out

Sometimes not practicing fundamental baseball can cost you a World Championship.
What happens in the game is generally the same as what you practiced and talked about.
The game is more than just pitching the ball fast and hitting the ball hard.
A professional baseball player should master more than just what happens on the pitchers mound and inside the batter's box.
