First time I've EVER seen that. I'm not even sure I've ever heard of it happening. Maybe in JV hockey...

Obviously that sucks but the guy has been a fine captain. He was and is the right choice.

Schenn's lifetime shootout goal % is a little over 30%. That is pretty good for shootouts. I was more disappointed that Kyrou and Snuggerud made the same move that did not work. I thought it was funny because the tv broadcast emphasis was how great goalie coach David Alexander was and how his strategy was going to overwhelm the Canucks goalie-but none of the 3 shooters came close to succeeding. It turned out to be a decision making group of guys failure this time..not on Schenn.

Classic overthinking, you are putting world class hockey players out there. Let them do their thing.Russdv14 wrote: ↑30 Oct 2025 23:26 pm Schenn's lifetime shootout goal % is a little over 30%. I could see noting a goal tender has a weakness but that looked like way to much overthinking/over managed/coached to me. Makes me wonder how much we might be doing that in general.

oh jesus.
It happens in shootouts.
Pucks roll off sticks quite often in them.
Just watch them and you will see.

Well if our overall shooting percentage is down, and if our rate of hitting the net is down, those would be two huge indicators that they are more concerned with hitting spots than getting the puck on net.skilles wrote: ↑30 Oct 2025 23:34 pmClassic overthinking, you are putting world class hockey players out there. I would say see if he wants to play with his brother. But we have no one that is captain material.

Its the danger of taking the puck out of the cleared area, it can hit a rut or bad ice and go off the stick.
That's the way the hockey go.

I was just going to say after 3rd period and OT it's not surprising to see a puck jump off a stick due to chewed up ice.

Re: Hand over the C Schenn. That was [fork]ing pathetic
They don't refinish the entire ice surface for shootouts. If a player takes the puck wide- and many of them do- your chances of a bad bounce, or a puck dragging on a pile of shavings, or catching in a rut... are always much higher than in game play.
Schenn started the season trying to anchor a line with the ghost of Dylan Holloway on one wing and a player with the hockey IQ and compete level of a gerbil on the other. He has been forced to play a position that he is not suited for, but he is, without question, the best player in our organization to wear the C.

He will likely be a 3LW, maybe as immediate as when Thomas returns. He will likely be very effective in that role and the money isn’t an issue.
