Agree and he has been trending a bit better. We all knew this was going to b a growth year for him. Give it a few months and people will need to bring up clips of his first couple of games to make themselves feel better about being wrong about him.Frank Underwood wrote: ↑29 Oct 2025 12:41 pm Wasn’t going to post since there is a lot going on today, but……in my attempt at being a sunny optimist, I thought he looked good last night. I kept my attention on him every time he was on the ice, and I honestly saw nothing negative. He was on for one goal against, but that’s the play where Walker left his guy alone in front of the net and went for the puck behind the net. Mailloux was where he was supposed to be on that play, and pretty much the whole game. He played a few more minutes last night (13+) and he looked more comfortable than he did in the first few games. Maybe just maybe he is trending in the right direction. That could be one issue we check off our list of worries soon.

The play happened right in front of me, not sure what Mailloux was supposed to do? He took his guy out of the play, if the forwards were doing their job it’s an easy transition the other way with two Wings caught behind the play.bluetunehead wrote: ↑29 Oct 2025 13:33 pmOf all the people to blame the 4th goal on. The defenseman who was tying up his man behind the net is not the one. Walker is the one who left his man alone in front of the net and we got burned because of it.seattleblue wrote: ↑29 Oct 2025 12:53 pm That fourth goal against which put the game out of reach was literally pitiful from him. He is so weak and his instincts are so bad
Re: Mailloux Last Night
It was very soft and not great body positioning on his man.2forDiving wrote: ↑29 Oct 2025 15:07 pmThe play happened right in front of me, not sure what Mailloux was supposed to do? Re: Mailloux Last Night
It was a good play by the Detroit player Mailloux maybe a tad late but took the right man and played it well too.
To take a line from Mike Martz....Walker bit the cheese and got burned.
Hey see what you want ....I see a kid coming around and playing much improved hockey in a short period of time.
Now it's only 285 games to go.

He did not play it well, he cheated to his left towards the corner and got burned but I do agree he played better.dhsux wrote: ↑29 Oct 2025 16:04 pm It was a good play by the Detroit player Mailloux maybe a tad late but took the right man and played it well too.

0 PIM. Awful defensively
He’s so boring so far

Re: Mailloux Last Night
He had a couple of quick release hard wrist shots on net from the blue line last night. Certainly not bombing slap shots, but the quickness and velocity can catch goalie and D off guard. They were toward the corners of the net, they were not softballs caught by the goalie. He also had some good outlet & transition headman plays.MiamiLaw wrote: ↑29 Oct 2025 12:47 pm Would like to get a chance to see the offensive talent he's known for but they've probably told him to focus on his defense because he has to be able to not be a negative there to justify ice time.
I was in and out of the game last night but good to hear he looked more comfortable.
And yes, he seems to be paying more attention toward trying to be better defensively. His most positive over the past few games, is he is not as noticeable...and right now for him that's a good thing.

Agreed, I don't agree he was "tying up his man" he was there simply being outmuscled the same way Snuggerud was by Mantha the other nightskilles wrote: ↑29 Oct 2025 16:00 pmIt was very soft and not great body positioning on his man.2forDiving wrote: ↑29 Oct 2025 15:07 pmThe play happened right in front of me, not sure what Mailloux was supposed to do? Also, my comment was about the subject of the thread not trying to assign all blame as a precursor for talking about Mailloux' portion. You guys honestly see a muscler there? he is young and soft right now. In the moment I thought "baby Pronger/Parayko, lol"

Agreed, was the first time I saw anything where I was like "oh OK there is a little life"

Maybe Bolduc having gone cold will lessen some of the scrutiny he's under. Probably not though.
