The hand off
OK I tried to find posters opinions in real time in the GDT and gave up.
I am curious what ya'll think on the Zoller-Roberts costly gaffe.
I'm thinking the play was 'sposed to be a fake hand off that Zollers went too far with and confused Roberts and..... vwalla.
Or perhaps a poorly executed option? It just did not look like a straight hand off by design.
What's your take on this play?

Re: The hand off
A blitzing LB up the middle blew the play up which eliminated any chance for a read on Zollers part and thus the turnover .
That's what it looked like to me.

Re: The hand off
I think the read was to pull it and Roberts thought he was going to.

Re: The hand off
IMO, with the LB coming the read was for Zollers to pull the ball and Roberts was going to block the LB. The backer was there quick and Zollers didn’t make the read as fast as Roberts did. Probably just inexperience on Zollers part. Roberts never grabbed the ball and stepped to the blitzing LBer while Zollers didn’t make the read quick enough and kept the ball on Roberts hip. The ball was never secured and just sat on Roberts hip. The LB was wrapping up Roberts and just found the loose ball on Roberts hip. A terrible mistake but IMO a bad and slow read by Zollers.
Re: The hand off
There's something weird there beyond the ball getting stolen.
Roberts seemed to almost be blocking that guy rather than tucking/running with the football.
Just a weird sequence.
Re: The hand off
No time for him to do anything except take a shot from the blitzer. I'm not sure Roberts ever controlled the ball. The announcer mentioned a bad exchange and that's what it looked like in the second shot particularly. It also looked like the snap was to Pribula's left, away from the play. Better timing and Roberts maybe just loses yards but not the ball.

Re: The hand off
linebacker was offsides
Re: The hand off
It's yet another stupid play call from the OC. Why a read option play with a freshman QB thrust into a tense environment? Stick to the basics!
I along with others here have about had it with Moore.

That's how I saw it too.Whatashame wrote: ↑26 Oct 2025 16:10 pm IMO, with the LB coming the read was for Zollers to pull the ball and Roberts was going to block the LB. It doesn't make sense dhsux would start at the bottom, but to each his own.OK I tried to find posters opinions in real time in the GDT and gave up.
Re: The hand off
7th and 8th grade teams are not facing blitzing SEC linebackers. Give me a break. Executing the read option requires a lot of communication, familiarity and trust between the RB and the QB. They were not in sync obviously. Calling that play was a mistake.

Re: The hand off
Icon may be correct all four times he's mentioned it.
It was a poor play-call by Moore, because a lineman missed a block.

No he wasn't. IF you go frame by frame you see he wasn't off sides. Just click on the clip twice in a row to start and stop it.
