The loss sucks, but there were some good things
The only stat that matters is wins and losses. I'm proud of Tigers. MU had better stats than Vandy in running and passing. We identified some more good players. The game came down to a botched hand off and a horribly played 80 yard run. It was a very hostile environment. Vandy has been due to beat MU. We probably won't make the playoff this year, but we'll get a nice bowl game.

Same ole Mizzou football. Pile up wins to start then can’t beat the big boys. Happens every year.

Stop with the bull[shirt]. We lost, again, when it mattered most. It's never going to change. It's awful

Re: The loss sucks, but there were some good things
The list of mistakes we made is so long you almost can’t fit them in one thread. Yet there we were on the road at a top 10 opponent in position to win.
If Zollers is as good as we all think he might be, this team could be extremely tough by bowl time. But who knows how it’ll look offensively for the next few weeks. We have a chance to see a big improvement. Zollers can sling it. All we can do is wait and see. This was to be a rebuilding year from the beginning, so if this translates to laying the foundation for an amazing year next year then so be it.

They have a week to reset the game plan to accommodate Zoeller's throwing ability and shore up the pass blocking against a fierce TAMU front. That's a tough spot for anyone but especially a freshman.

The Tigers lost that game because they don't have a adequate field goal kicker.hockey jedi wrote: ↑25 Oct 2025 22:31 pm The only stat that matters is wins and losses. I'm proud of Tigers. The missed chip shot field goal. The turnover on downs at the goal line. The whole game is different if Drink has a reliable place kicker.
In addition, the injury to Horn in the season's first game left us with no option but Pribula who was plainly over his head as a starter in the SEC.
If we had a top-notch QB and a decent place kicker, the Tigers would be 8-0.
Re: The loss sucks, but there were some good things
That would be the hope. Fearful of going back to trying to put square pegs into round holes, like with BP. In fairness though, Drink took a gamble on BP - and it hasn't worked in the SEC. I still do not see how BP beat out Zoller after seeing Zoller play yesterday.
Re: The loss sucks, but there were some good things
How about the coach and the OC? The coach got Craig killed on a kickoff return. Why was he kicking off to begin with? That's what the backups are for. And then the OC knocks out Horn, a pocket passer, with a stupid wildcat run against Central Arkansas that was his only play of the game. And the OC has been bad the last 3 games.Red Bird Classic wrote: ↑26 Oct 2025 10:06 amThe Tigers lost that game because they don't have a adequate field goal kicker.hockey jedi wrote: ↑25 Oct 2025 22:31 pm The only stat that matters is wins and losses. Twenty or thirty years ago, QBs could be pocket passers who never run, but the game has changed. QB's all run some now. Horn's injury was a freak accident and really cost the Tigers but no one could predict it would come on that play.
I agree about Craig. No need to use him on kickoffs.
But overall, this is a fine football team with top-notch players on both sides of the ball. If Drink can keep this group together, add a few more pieces, then maybe next year, with Zoellers behind center...

Not so much, we were coming off 2 seasons where we were 21-5 and knocked on the door of the playoffs. New QB. New RB’s. Mostly new receivers. This was to be a rebuilding year until we realized this year’s team is pretty talented and everyone got their hopes up. We might end up 8-4 this year, but with the weapons we’re developing, if they all come back, next season really could be special.dugoutrex wrote: ↑26 Oct 2025 08:58 am4 favorite words of all Mizzou fansArmchair QB wrote: ↑26 Oct 2025 07:18 am The list of mistakes we made is so long you almost can’t fit them in one thread. Bottom line-Missouri beat Missouri. Vanderbilt is this years TCU and of course the spin doctors just love the veteran QB. Can he play long enough in college to qualify for a pension?
