It's my understanding you can discuss players and potential trades but cannot finalize any deal .WeeVikes wrote: ↑23 Oct 2025 13:14 pmCan they be worked in the background, just not announced until after the WS?rockondlouie wrote: ↑23 Oct 2025 12:02 pmForbidden by MLB..... no trades of players on the 40 man until the day after the end of the WS.AZ_Cardsfan wrote: ↑23 Oct 2025 11:11 amIs it actually forbidden or just considered poor taste?rockondlouie wrote: ↑23 Oct 2025 11:09 amFrom what I know birds' they can "talk" all they want at any time.

Sounds doable especially for the Arenado , Gray , and/ or Contreras deals. Those 3 will probably take time since bigger bucks involved in monies being eaten by the Cardnals to trade them . Gray should have a few suitors as he is solid rotation experienced pitcher and those are in demand by several teams especially those contending type . With Sonny they will like his ability but they need the Cardinals to 'eat the right amount of $$$' so he is worth the price to them.JuanAgosto wrote: ↑23 Oct 2025 12:01 pm My guess is he uses the Winter Meetings to have serious discussions and follow up on any groundwork he's laid up to that point. Maybe a deal then or shortly after.

I'd think since they can discuss players at any time, then they likely can at least set the table and have a framework in place just not the final details.
Likely have to wait till the day after the WS ends to "dot the i's and cross the t's" to avoid being in hot water w/MLB.
Re: How soon after World Series will Bloom make his first trade ?
Correct ! For Chaim , there is only one i to dot. No t’s to cross in Chaim nor Bloom !rockondlouie wrote: ↑23 Oct 2025 13:47 pmGood questionWeeVikes wrote: ↑23 Oct 2025 13:14 pmCan they be worked in the background, just not announced until after the WS?rockondlouie wrote: ↑23 Oct 2025 12:02 pmForbidden by MLB..... no trades of players on the 40 man until the day after the end of the WS.AZ_Cardsfan wrote: ↑23 Oct 2025 11:11 amIs it actually forbidden or just considered poor taste?rockondlouie wrote: ↑23 Oct 2025 11:09 amFrom what I know birds' they can "talk" all they want at any time.

+1 it was the dumbest move mo made in the off season was keeping fedde and helsley. Helsely had a down season from the season before lowering his trade value since he had only two months of control months left and wasn’t as effective and fedde was awful and his value just completely tanked. Hopefully bloom won’t hold onto players like Gorman until their value is near zero like mo did with CarlsonAZ_Cardsfan wrote: ↑23 Oct 2025 10:20 am My bet is there are already a lot of deals in the air that might be finalized after the WS. No reason to wait. That was last years mistake. Holding Fedde and Helsley when their value was at it's peak to appease the people who still thought they could contend in 2025.

Re: How soon after World Series will Bloom make his first trade ?
I'm convinced there will be many transactions for the Cardinals, but it just isn't going to happen quickly. There are several reasons that things don't usually get rolling until the Winter Meetings (this year Dec 8-11). Teams want to know who all is on the market. You already know who the free agents will be, but by the Winter Meetings you know which options are exercised, who is Rule 5 protected, who is non-tendered.
Even if teams are talking now, they want to explore and see who else is out there and what they cost, whether that be money, or talent. The types of free agents that the Cardinals might sign will not be high priced. They will wait to see if that is the best offer they will get. Can they get more money, more years, a better team?
If something gets done early, it might be a minor deal to re-arrange our roster to make room, or someone else doing the same. December. That's when things will start to move.

Would think the Hot Stove will get a lot of attention if we start reading / hearing stories titled :
Teams interested in Donovan .. Bloom listening to offers
Cardinals in discussions on possible blockbuster deal
Bloom finalizing deal on Arenado

I would be happy with one of these.
Re: How soon after World Series will Bloom make his first trade ?
Crazy thing is that if we Had traded Fedde we actually would Have competed this year. And if we had gotten an Edman level player back in return to play OF, we probably win 88 games.AZ_Cardsfan wrote: ↑23 Oct 2025 10:20 am My bet is there are already a lot of deals in the air that might be finalized after the WS.
