Are the Blues tanking on purpose?
Are the Blues tanking on purpose, or is this just the natural state of Army Hockey?
My sense is that the Blues of Feb 1 2025 have returned. Army said it well at the time. Their best players are playing better than our best players in too many games.

Glad to hear in the post-game interview that Montgomery confirms that the problems of early 2025 have returned. They are the exact same problems. Awareness of the problem is step 1.

Blues have a better winning % than TOR, FLA, DAL, EDM, OTT, TB, NYR, VAN, LAK…all teams with playoff aspirations.
Also, this is not an attempt to engage with the OP. Just an attempt to once again prove to the rest of the board that he’s a [fork]ing clown with zero hockey knowledge and a dumb[ash] agenda.

You must have missed that all those teams are tanking as well!!Backesdraft wrote: ↑22 Oct 2025 08:13 am Blues have a better winning % than TOR, FLA, DAL, EDM, OTT, TB, NYR, VAN, LAK…all teams with playoff aspirations.

Yep. Looks like we’re going to get that DET/UT Stanley Cup everyone predicted. Because, as we all know, the first 7 - 10 games of the season determines how the other 75 games are going to go.sdaltons wrote: ↑22 Oct 2025 09:05 amYou must have missed that all those teams are tanking as well!!Backesdraft wrote: ↑22 Oct 2025 08:13 am Blues have a better winning % than TOR, FLA, DAL, EDM, OTT, TB, NYR, VAN, LAK…all teams with playoff aspirations.

Every response in these threads is engaging the OP.
Now I'm doing it to complain at you guys. Like literally this forum is awful because this dude would be gone if folks stop directly talking to him.
Its a shame because the reddit forum doesn't have the historical membership that these forums have. Ive seen some of you guys for 25 years on here.
But this place is a one man cesspool that wouldn't be the case if no one talked to this guy. It is that simple.

Blues played very well the last half of the game last night, they just couldn't finish...the start wasn't good.

Re: Are the Blues tanking on purpose?
I don't think that the Blues are tanking on purpose. The player aren't tanking on purpose. Blues Management would never do it.
My point is that my critics argue often that I want the team to "tank" so that the Blues can get a TOP5 pick. These folks claim that "tanking" is 1000% unacceptable to them.
Based on this situation, my real question is this...
When I watch the Blues, I see a team that doesn't care to win for long stretches of time. I see our best players virtually disappear. How much worse would genuine tanking look, Sports Fans?!!! Why aren't my critics supremely annoyed at this point from seeing play that could be mistaken for "tanking"?

Because your critics are an order of magnitude smarter than you.a smell of green grass wrote: ↑22 Oct 2025 14:24 pm I don't think that the Blues are tanking on purpose. The player aren't tanking on purpose. Blues Management would never do it.

7 pts in first 6 GP, 95 pt pace but they are "tanking" lol. I thought we wanted to play a lot of younger players? Blues have 8 players who are 25 or younger and a lot them dont have a lot of experience this is where the franchise currently sits. The Kings were desperate 1-3-2 and they needed a win they can play a very good team defensive game and they came in and did that. They stymied the Blues, Blues rallied and got a point. Tomorrow nights game will be important I at least want to see more of the team that beat the Stars vs the team that overlooked the Hawks.

Sure, if you look at the game results, you may not see a big problem.Harry S Deals wrote: ↑22 Oct 2025 14:28 pm 7 pts in first 6 GP, 95 pt pace but they are "tanking" lol. However, I believe that it is clear that the "team culture" issues and mediocrity issues of Jan 2025 have returned, and may even be worse. Remember Army's reaction to that situation in Jan 2025? In summary, Army said that "We have coaxed/tweaked/prodded/changed everything to fix the problem EXCEPT the guys that have been here the longest",. At that point, he was ready to dump Kyrou and Thomas.
The problem is not the young players. The problem is the guys that have been here the longest.
Who made the biggest mistakes in the playoffs? Buch
Who disappeared the most in the playoffs? Thomas and Kyrou
If you think things are peachy. Fine. Maybe you are right. I see mediocrity with no end. I see a coaching change that has made no difference. I see mediocre players locked in for 5+ years. I see fans thinking that the big hole is at the 4th-line. We just need Sunqvist back, and everything will be fine.

Thomas and Kyrou realize they are locked in for 5 more years at what will become a bargain rate soon...if you aren't satisfied deep down it is hard to deliver a consistent effort. You may have hit on THE problem....
