Hiring Pujols or Molina will absolutely excite the fanbase. However, they will still need to succeed as a team to sustain the excitement. Regardless, I think both Pujols or Molina will be an improvement.
“I should make this move to excite the fan base,” is something I hope Bloom never utters.
Especially when it comes to the manager.
He certainly needs to take the fan base into consideration. Without them there is no budget and no operations and he would be out of a job. Making money from the Fanbase IS his ultimate job.

bdw expects a lock out, and doesnt want to be paying anyone as a manager during it
all about the $$$ with bdw 2
this -- dewitt is gonna trade anything he can to save money and pay oli for his last year heading into the likely 2027 shutdown, don't expect anyone on anything other than a 1 yr deal on the cheap
Assuming Pujols wasn't already under contract to the Angels, and assuming he wanted to manage in STL, it would STILL be nuclear grade retarded to hire him.
The team next year will still lack the talent to be a contender. STL is about 2-3 years away from being a true WS contender. So hire Pujols and when the 2026 team is 24-28 people call for his scalp and question his management skills. Now you have to fire a legend.
Get a clue folks. STL is NOT a contender in 2026 so worry about how they rebuild the squad via trade and acquiring prospects and the development of them in the minors. Worry about who manages the major league team starting in 2026.

Nothing is going to change with Mo gone.
Why on earth would Albert want to manage the Cardinals in 2026? They will probably lose 90 games next year. The next manager will have to endure a lot of holes in the roster. The starting rotation is gonna be a huge question. I can’t see why Albert would want the job.

The venn diagram of people who hated the Shildt/Oli hires because they had no experience and are whinging for a Molina/Pujols hire is a circle.
There’s a huge difference in comparing those two sets of people.

Pujols has more MLB knowledge and intuition than Oli could ever dream of…..with the cache of winning 2 WS and a top 10 HOFer
Now who would you listen to and play your (donkey) off for??? The guy who never saw MLB and coached one rookie league season or AP?
These are multi multi millionaires filling out MLB rosters….why would they listen to a nobody??
Not sure that cache says a thing about Albert managing a rotation, let alone a bullpen. If Albert doesn't work out, how easy would it be to fire him? Wow it could be such a disaster.

And there you have it. Finally some common sense. Let’s put our hero in a spot where he cannot win in 2026; then deal with frustration and difficulty of firing him and tarnish his reputation with the organization. Not a good idea.

So then whether there is 35,000 in the stands or 3,000 the players perform the same? And whether Pujols/Molina head the rebuild or Oli, it doesn't matter?

Wasn't it in Pujols contract with the Angels that if he does any MLB work after his retirement for 10 years it has to be with the Angels org?
I remember reading something about that.
I would need to look it up, but off the top of my head, I remember hearing that they bought that out?

When I get a chance, I'll confirm.
Well, that didn't take long. I took a quick look right after that post and AP is already in an asisstant role with the Angels in accordance with that 10 year contract...

Insane. World Series championships, a HOF player, and baseball knowledge do not guarantee a successful manager.
Now, if he were to knock it out of the park in an interview, maybe, but there were a lot of players on Cardinal championship teams. Do you want Mike Ramsey.
