Missouri - Vandy Prediction Thread

A bit early but what the hell.....another huge game.

Vandy moves up 6 spots in the coaches poll and Missouri moves up 2. How they each won and who they each played Saturday has a lot to do with that but is it a fair assessment of this weekends favored 2.5 Vandy spread? And just how good is LSU?

Personally, I'm putting a heavy emphasis on where the games were played and I'm glad Missouri got their first road game out of the way last weekend, a win none the less.

Missouri just HAS put it all together this Saturday. A solid defensive scheme to counter/contain Pavia's run game, a smart offensive game strategy that recognizes this teams strengths and gets it established early and often taking some of the pressure off Pribula, whose possession play will obviously be key. But not just all on one guy either, the staff needs to give this TEAM what they need to win. Use ALL of them.

Expect Hardy to have a spectacular game.

Vandy's defense is not as good as Auburn's so I expect a better running game (and better time of possession) from the Tigers this week. Mizzou has proven to have a very tough defense as well and I expect them to hold Vandy to ~20 points. If Mizzou can score 24 points I think they can win this game.

We officially have a turnover machine at QB so that is going to be a big factor in any victories for losses that this team has. Pribula has got to be aggressive but careful at the same time. While I think we can win with a dominant running game this week, there will be a need to move the ball through the air and we can't give Vandy/Pavia extra opportunities. It's like giving walks in baseball sooner or later they're going to come back to bit ya.

Establish the run at all costs and don't shy away from it. Bring Roberts into the game plan (running and receiving).

On receivers...bring more guys into the fray. Johnson, Norfleet and Olu. But first and foremost let the run game make and shape the passing game. go right at them and stay with it.

Predict a low scoring game 20-13 tigers. Moore and Drink needs to show they learned from last week as Vandy will have 8 in the box and press coverage on WR all game.

I'm thinking the Missouri front 7 contain Pavia's scrambles and put enough pressure on his passes to help out the secondary and maybe force a TO or 2. We shall see, but I think the Tigers win this one -- to stick with my preseason forecast. Really no idea on the score.

Also, home field is not all that in Nashville. Nothing like what the Tigers faced at Auburn. There should be lots of Tigers fans there if Saturday's game vs. LSU is any indication.

Mizzou in a squeaker, 27-24. Pavia scrambling on a bunch of third and longs and extending drives scares me. Big play third downs are this teams nemesis.
