He sure was. Very fun player to watch. Still hard to believe the Blues traded him. Want to feel old? I just looked him up and he is 68 years old.

I do think there were some similarities between Mullen and Oshie because of the roller hockey thing. Mullen was obviously a much, much better offensive player, but they both had this great center of gravity that made them very effective for their size. Mullen was kind of like a pinball on the ice. Maybe the Blues scouting staff should spend more time watching roller hockey players. You know, try something different since the Blues scouts are apparently so terrible, according to the forum expert!

Well said.

Nice!

In other news, haven't heard much about Buium lately. Can't imagine why.

Seriously? It's easy to find if you look a bit.

He leads all NHL rookies with five points in the early going, including a goal and four assists.

He's also already quarterbacking a powerplay unit that has started the season 10-for-21.

Why is this important? This year, when we are celebrating another meaningless late-season win streak (Army's team always win late), ask yourself this:
1) Who is this year's Jiricek? (That the Blues get)
2) Who is this year's Buiium? (That some other team gets)

How’s Buium doing at 5 on 5?

It's so weird that Buium is somehow being associated with Jiricek. The Flyers could make that trade because MN had the pick right after them.

It's disingenuous.

What else would you expect from the #1 contender to take the place of the King of Trolls?

The immortal Cree Indian from Ponoka, Alberta was also drafted from Roller Hockey.

I discovered the Director of Hockey Operationds at the Valencia Ice rink where my son played, was on a line with Kevin Plager with the old Vipers.

Oh, and don't forget Parekh. He was drafted a few spots before Jiricek too.

If the Blues win just a few games less in meaningless March, we are all talking about
- a rookie that the WHOLE NHL is talking about in St Louis,
instead of
- the prospect going to Dairy Queen somewhere in the Eastern Canada OHL.

And of course, most importantly -- BOLDUC WOULD STILL BE ON OUR ROSTER.

But I know that some of you would much rather remember that 1 epic fail by Buchnevich in the playoffs than talk about Buium or Parekh for the rest of our lives.

I can just see it. Next up for Buium is the "Jiricek treatment"...

He gets shipped back all the way to the OHL, flying over the AHL. There are 5000 Big Macs between us and seeing Buium again.

He just needs more time. Check back in 2 years.

Parekh was drafted 9th. That’s more than a few spots earlier than 16th. And the blues lost to Winnipeg last year so that doesn’t affect the 2024 nhl draft at all. You’re too stupid to even make coherent complaints. It’s honestly kind of impressive.

Worth noting in this conversation that we do have a star rookie.

He is unquestionably looking to make an offensive impact. You'll notice he's commonly swooping around the ozone with his stick raised. Two games ago had a huge open ice hit that sprung open the rest of his assertion and aggression. Yesterday he was called for roughing and later a fighting major. It's only a few games in but it's a different feel this year. His numbers and impact are going up. Just a lot more physicality into his game is helping. He really was a string bean last year.

Next game is Friday against Lukas Fischer and Sarnia.
So you're essentially saying it was way too early to prognosticate the Jiricek pick last year. The endless droning on and on I'm not saying it was you I don't recall but any draft pick in the NHL requires a process save the very few who can produce instantly. The Blues staff know infinitely more than we ever will let it play out it will be great to see what he can do in camp next year
I was always pretty even handed about him, because when you have that much inconsistency you have to prove it. And he still has to prove this out for a bit.

You know who is the next defenseman prospect to hit the lineup is Lindstein, he is very comfortable in the AHL already you can see it. It's a matter of time for him.
Theo scored a nice PPG last night he's coming along nicely
He should have made the team out of camp but we had to save face with the Bolduc trade. Can’t trade for a guy and have him start the year in the minors.
