Jiricek gained muscle and he is throwing it around. His goal yesterday was a loose puck in the slot he pounced on and buried. He is unquestionably looking to make an offensive impact. You'll notice he's commonly swooping around the ozone with his stick raised. Two games ago had a huge open ice hit that sprung open the rest of his assertion and aggression. Yesterday he was called for roughing and later a fighting major. It's only a few games in but it's a different feel this year. His numbers and impact are going up. Just a lot more physicality into his game is helping. He really was a string bean last year.

Next game is Friday against Lukas Fischer and Sarnia.

Loved the hit he made prior to the fight. He’s making a statement making hits like that in a 6-0 game.
I also didn’t know until last week that Gary Robert’s is part of the player development team in Branford. Watched an interview with him and he said it’s their job to make sure each player is as prepared as they can be for each game. Good place for Jiricek to get his reps in and continue to gain strength.

He said he added 25 pounds since being drafted. At 6-foot-3, 178 pounds, looks like he's willing and able to throw down. Still needs to put on some more weight. Probably has.

"I go to the gym, and they already have the plan ready. I’m just doing what they told me to do."

Appreciate the continued updates. His progression is looking great. Health looks like the only thing that could hinder his runway to St. Louis.

He had a bit of bite to his game at 17 and seems to be assertive at almost every level he's played (when he's actually playing). Just seems like the type who is always in the play and often will drive play. I think his biggest knock as a prospect as far as skill was his shot. Great to hear he's found another real element to his game. Seems like the atmosphere in camp has rubbed off on him. Now he can pick on teenagers as a 19 year old who is finally growing into his body. Won't be picking on Lukas Fischer! Just noticed he's listed as Captain of Sarnia and has scored 8 points in 8 games and is a +9.

Brantford is an excellent team, but Sarnia is much weaker. Both of Jiricek and Fischer are high end skaters, very fast and big players. Fischer is mean. He wants to smash a player in the corner and bomb home two blasts from the point. Jiricek is looking to attack the opposing net and believes that he can outskate his positioning when he's too deep in the ozone, but that will have to get fixed before he plays regularly in the NHL. But him bringing a bully element to his pinches down low and his battles behind his own net is something encouraging. When players are that engaged they know a significant part of the game's action is flowing through them and they prefer that. He just seems more engaged in general.

So you're essentially saying it was way too early to prognosticate the Jiricek pick last year. The endless droning on and on I'm not saying it was you I don't recall but any draft pick in the NHL requires a process save the very few who can produce instantly. The Blues staff know infinitely more than we ever will let it play out it will be great to see what he can do in camp next year

I was always pretty even handed about him, because when you have that much inconsistency you have to prove it. And he still has to prove this out for a bit.

You know who is the next defenseman prospect to hit the lineup is Lindstein, he is very comfortable in the AHL already you can see it. It's a matter of time for him.

Lindstein has looked very good for Springfield so far. Better than I expected, and I’m as high as anyone on him. Got his first AHL goal earlier today. Now 3 pts in his first 3 AHL games while also playing top notch defense.

Jiricek has also looked good so far this season. Much much better than last season, which is encouraging.

Dawg, Joe Mullen…..what an amazing player! But I was actually talking about Oshie. This place went crazy when we drafted him! But if there was a Blues Talk back when we drafted Mullen, I’m sure the reaction would have been the same.
