Locking down the border

Post by ChuckMaynard »

Funny how important we used to think this was to be able to succeed in football and basketball. Although NIL is helping I think it has more to do with the coaches, unless Mizzou has unlimited amounts of cash I'm not aware of.

It has to do with the Missouri state legislature. Go do some research.

Often better power 4 talent is elsewhere and they are doing a excellent job of recruiting in other regions. You fish where the fish are is a noted SEC saying. IDing talent that fits his program is where Eli is best at whether HS or TP, especially TP.

I’d still like to lock down the border. I also haven’t seen any one of our coaches imply it is no longer important.

So you're saying it isn't the coaches? The NIL legislation benefits in state recruiting more than out of state so why is Dennis Gates signing almost all out of state players? He's signed 8 out of his last 10 high school kids from out of state.

Drink so far this recruiting class only has 3 out of 19 high school recruits from Missouri.

How does Missouri's legislation benefit out of state kids over all other states legislation?

Do you think Crowe Jr. and Bryant couldn't get more money from any other school?

It’s important in football, but it takes so many out of state players that to me, with the transfer portal so key, we can miss on top in state talent more than in the past. That said, it’s never a bad thing to get the best HS players.

Basketball, even with the transfer portal, to me is different. If you can grab the top 2-3 HS players from Missouri every year, you’ll be virtually a lock for the Sweet 16 every year.
