Practice Lines (10/17)

Post by STL fan in MN »

Holloway-Thomas-Neighbours
Buchnevich-Suter-Snuggerud
Joseph-Schenn-Kyrou
Texier-Bjugsrad-Walker

Fowler-Parayko
Broberg-Faulk
Tucker-Kessel
Mailloux

Binnington
Hofer

* Sundqvist (LBI) and Toropchenko (LBI/UBI) not skating again.
Neighbours to the right side, Buch down to line 2, Snuggy up to line 2, Kyrou down to line 3. The lines are all jumbled.

Unsurprisingly, Kessel being given a chance. Probably likely to slot in for Mailloux for the next game.

Just heard this too.

One thing I like about Monty, he's not afraid to move players around.

Suter as 2C? Ouch....

LM needs at least one night in the pressbox to reset for sure. Dallas would eat him alive anyways.

A game or two from the high seats for Logan with Chopper and likely Prongs will do the young fella some good.

We are moving Kyrou to the 3rd line? Not sure how I feel about that one.

Kessel and Tucker will also very likely be a disaster.

Is it really a 3rd line? There isn't a lot of difference between 2 and 3. Look at TOI after the game, going to guess its pretty even between the 2nd and 3rd at 5v5

If Joseph is on it, it is a 3rd line. The guy should never, under any circumstance, be playing top 6 minutes.

On the plus side, if DAL keeps with their season average and scores five goals, that'd be a three-goal improvement for the Blues' D...

I'll see myself out.

Well that's likely true hadn't thought of that.

People make way too big a deal about the number of the line. Ice time for the first three lines are generally even at 5 on 5. It's the PP and PK ice time that separates things.

I’ve seen comments like this for years and I don’t get it. In all the years MacInnis has been employed by the Blues, I’ve heard of zero times of him working with a player directly. I’m not even sure he works for the Blues fulltime. He’s an advisor to Army. Likely just someone Army gets an opinion from from time to time.

And Pronger? He now with the FanDual broadcast so wouldn’t he be busy with that? And not like he’s been around a ton over the years. That said, has he even been on a FanDual broadcast yet? I saw where he was on Hockey Night in Canada the other night so I guess the FanDual thing isn’t every game. But either way, not like he’s just in the pressbox ready to give advice to whatever d-man is scratched that night.

My fear is Dallas is going to feast on Kessel, too. Not sticking up for Mailloux, just going off last year and the difference between the two probably isn’t as great as one would hope. Skinner outplayed Kessel IMO during the preseason

Yea...not a lot of great options on that third pairing. Not sure why Suter was not signed. Seems like exactly what we could use as some depth right now and I can't imagine he'd cost much.
