The problem is that this isn’t a transition issue. He’s never been dominant defensively at lower levels is my understanding.dhsux wrote: ↑16 Oct 2025 15:51 pmYour whole post was good but above is why I made the comment on what Pronger said on the radio.
I'm NOT comparing the players in any way shape or form but rather it's Pronger comparing what fans did with him and are now doing with Logan.
He's telling who ever wants to listen it TAKES TIME...he referenced 300 games....to fully develop as a defense man and 11 games is not a barometer for anything.

Well that doesn't change my opinion at all as I would never boo any player that made it to the NHL, None of my criticism is even for LM. He is a beast and I'm sure has dedicated his life to this. What he is trying to do is hard on a level most will never come close to understanding let alone achieving.dhsux wrote: ↑16 Oct 2025 14:50 pm Pronger just on the air saying it takes 300 games for a defense man to truly learn who he is.
When asked to compare Logans year here with his first year here he said no comparison, "I had a year under my belt and Logan has 11 games."
On when he did break in..."I was bood for 3 years".
His basic advice for him was to be himself, stick with what works for himself, and venture/learn from there.
Many posters here not being reasonable, imo.
Anyone who even makes an appearance at the pinnacle should never be boo'd, That to me is crazy, my opinion is based on whether this was even a reasonable move for us to make AND whether we even made a reasonable attempt to set our selves up to accommodate such a move.
I don't like the choices we made for the Blues or for LM to be honest.
We talk about not failing prospects but that is certainly what we are doing here.

By his 4th game in his first season with the Blues, Pronger had 1 goal, 2 assists, was a +3 with 11 shots on goal.
In 4 games as a Blue, Mailloux has 0 points, is a -7 and has 2 shots on goal.
I know he is not Pronger, but Pronger's name should not even be brought up when talking about Mailloux and his performance. It isn't fair to the guy. Pronger may have had ups and downs but he had ups right away. Mailloux...I have not seen anything that excites me. Not even a flash.
Go tell Chris Pronger!
This is ridiculous.
But I think almost everyone understands that anyways. People are continuing to miss the point that the reason people are so focused on LM's performance is because of what the Blues paid to get him. Might not be fair to him but it is 100% understandable.
No one expected him to come in and be an all star but he's frankly been abysmally bad. He's not ready. It's not his fault the Blues put him in this situation. The criticisms, at least on my end, are more directed at Army and the staff than him.
Re: Mails -6
Booing doesn’t have to be player directed. It can be organizational directed. Booing will always be there and will always serve a purpose. I appreciate expressionskilles wrote: ↑16 Oct 2025 16:35 pmWell that doesn't change my opinion at all as I would never boo any player that made it to the NHL, None of my criticism is even for LM. Re: Mails -6
I disagree, Ive never had any desire to boo anyone ever but to each there own I guess.
Re: Mails -6
Sure and I have the right to disagree with their choices, I didn't suggest they should be punished or imprisoned for it. I simply think its shameful and way out of touch.
Re: Mails -6
I have not either for the very reasons you have stated.
Very few who play the game, no matter the game, on any kind of structured competitive level, will do it either.
Pronger is a HOF'er who WAS BOOED here. I don't wanna get hung up on booing. He's just asking people to give LM time and he's using his own experience as an example why.
It's fine to say he hasn't played well, he 's being sheltered, he messed up here or there, as he has. But to say 4 games in or 40 games in it's a bad trade, Blues lose, it's a disaster, he's a disaster, this guy doesn't belong........uh uh.

Right…you just refer to it as crazy, shameful and out of touch (whatever that means). I mean that’s just intolerant thinking/stance whether you manage your behavior around it or not.

Buium is -6, both players are tweeners and probably need more time in the AHL, just like DVO, Stenberg, etc. On the job training in the NHL will be painful for most, but eventually, you have to give young players the opportunity to play at the next level. He'll get it, or we'll move on, no matter how much we want to see LM succeed. No fans want to see us get destroyed in a game, especially when the new kid goes -3, but it's bound to happen when you aren't mentally prepared, perhaps even over confident, which is what I saw last night and on opening night. Opening night was full of distractions, we can see most home teams play bad on their opening night as 2/3's of teams lost their home opener, whereas last night appeared the entire team was over confident. Even Monty when interviewed during the game said we'll start taking over, or something along these lines when the Blues tied it at 2-2.
Now the good news, these two losses will likely help this team more than one might imagine, like that 8-1 Ottawa butt-kicking last October. This team isn't polished enough to be overlooking any team at this time, and sometimes a little humble pie might be what's needed. The follow up to that 8-1 loss to Ottawa last year was a January date with Ottawa where the Blues won 4-0.

either way we can't let it go on much longer, he can figure it out in Springfield. people say he needs to play. those are individual needs which are less than the team needs
We can agree that Army was wrong to say Mailloux is ready for full time NHL work. Army probably shouldn't have gone out on a limb making that claim despite Mailloux's inexperience and mixed early results. The past four games doesn't really change things as much as it clarifies how much work is needed.
Of course, watching Bolduc play as well as he can (at the other extreme from Mailloux) makes the early comparisons inevitably hurtful. But it is what it is. The question is, how do the Blues course correct?
Mailloux has talent, he needs to process game situations better. There is no Bedard in the AHL, he needs to learn how to handle him and the talent in the NHL.
I do believe Tucker and Mailloux are proving that both is a bridge too far, at least for now. It is fair to ask where the Blues should place their bets, it's also clear what the answer is to that question. Tucker can play better but I think we saw his ceiling at the end of last season.

You have made a very strange argument in the defense of your right to shame and boo young men who have poured everything in to their attempt to be among the best in the world.....but that is what happens when you start caring more about winning arguments than you do actually being right.theograce wrote: ↑16 Oct 2025 17:21 pmRight…you just refer to it as crazy, shameful and out of touch (whatever that means). I don't know why on gods green earth you would make that comparison.. Janney situation Shanahan being a HOF Pronger a future HOF and highly touted prospect etc. I get they were both young defense that struggled early and got booed but Logan truly doesn't need to be compared to pronger in anyway right now let the kid breathe WTF is the PR/Media doing to this kid.dhsux wrote: ↑16 Oct 2025 14:50 pm Pronger just on the air saying it takes 300 games for a defense man to truly learn who he is.

Ok they’ve done a lot of work. And? They don’t ever have effort issues or attitude issues or any reason why you think people shouldn’t be frustrated? Or an organization like Buffalo? Keep cheering hard? Silence? Your way is the right way lol.skilles wrote: ↑16 Oct 2025 19:30 pmYou have made a very strange argument in the defense of your right to shame and boo young men who have poured everything in to their attempt to be among the best in the world.....but that is what happens when you start caring more about winning arguments than you do actually being right.theograce wrote: ↑16 Oct 2025 17:21 pmRight…you just refer to it as crazy, shameful and out of touch (whatever that means). Re: Mails -6
I see no reason to boo the kid. He's adjusting to the NHL. Army has forgotten more about hockey than I'll ever know. However, I'm surprised they are relying on a Tucker Mailloux combo. Was surprised the Blues didn't add a veteran D to the group. Tucker is still in the process of trying to establish himself in the NHL. Seems to me Mailloux would be better served being paired with a veteran.dhsux wrote: ↑16 Oct 2025 17:20 pmI have not either for the very reasons you have stated.
