Yadi verifies he's ready to return as a Manager or Coach

Post by rockondlouie »

ST. LOUIS – Longtime St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina said Thursday that he is “ready” to return to professional baseball as a coach or manager, though he stopped short of confirming whether he has a job in the works for next year.

Molina, now three years retired from his storied Cardinals career as a player, shared an Instagram story Thursday afternoon with a short message expressing his desire to get more involved with the game.

His message, translated from Spanish to English, reads: “Throughout my career I have had countless satisfactions on and off the field. After three years off the lines, I am ready to return to the field, whether as a coach or manager, MLB, MX or where I can continue my career in baseball helping and contributing in the sport that I am passionate about.”

I really hope they do the Bloom hand off with one less year. Have him come in next year and assist or whatever and then interview him for the management job.

I think this public proclamation means that talks with Bloom didn’t go well.

I think you may be right. He didn't mention the Cardinals at all.

Nothing.

I love Yadi and I always will, but I will ALWAYS shy away from hiring legends.

Because when (always when) you have to let the guy go, you're not just letting the manager go, you're firing the legend.

Something tells me Yadi has as good a chance joining a potential Pujols staff in Anaheim as he does being in StL.

Personally, I think it's cool that Yadi and Pujols want to return as managers.

Managing is tough, and those guys have a ton of money already. They don't need a job.

To me, I think it shows character, a competitive spirit and love for the game.

EVEN if you think one or both are hacks, I personally appreciate the passion.

well, we know Albert isn't a family man so he needs to find something to keep him busy - not sure about Yadi

Okay, but if he lands the manager's job he'll be despised.

We need him. Give him the manager's job with a good bench coach. Some of the best managers are former catchers.
