The TJ could be his HS graduation gift.
TJ would allow him to fall to the Cardinals, wherever they draft. But the Cardinals draft TJ college pitchers in the 7th round these days. A team like the Dodgers would take a chance much earlier. Plus he'd probably just want to recover and rebuild value in college.
But I don't have a crystal ball that looks out 3 years. Just little chance Pence is a Cardinal. Hope he does well and doesn't wind up with another NL Central team. (If there is an NL Central in 2028).
