Mickey Moniak?
Would you trade for him?
Plus bat - he hit .802 OPS at Anaheim a couple years ago, so its not just a Coors effect. He defense struggled mightily in that huge CF, so he might be ripe for yet another change in scenery.
Heading into his first year of Arb, so Montfort might want to go cheap and flip him for a prospect, but still plenty of years of control left. He'd be a huge upgrade over Walker. He's also somewhat of an upgrade over Gorman on K rate, with much higher average.

Re: Mickey Moniak?
No harm in looking at Moniak. I doubt Bloom is placing a high priority on trading prospects for incremental improvements to the MLB roster.Carp4Cy wrote: ↑14 Oct 2025 22:51 pm Would you trade for him?

Re: Mickey Moniak?
Isn't he essentially Lars Nootbar on his best days?
No thanks.

From the looks of it, he’s Nootbar with Grichuk’s walk rate.Basil Shabazz wrote: ↑15 Oct 2025 07:36 am Isn't he essentially Lars Nootbar on his best days?

The only way I want MM is if he’s in a throw in on a much bigger package.
Re: Mickey Moniak?
He’s one of the worst fielders in baseball and hasn’t shown he can hit major league pitching outside of Coors. I could spend the rest of the morning trying to find a worse idea than this one, and I’m not sure I can find anything.
Re: Mickey Moniak?
He competes with Burleson and Walker in the top 10 worst defensive outfielders in baseball. I don't know if that's just a small sample size from his time in Colorado or not, but he's been bad the last two years.
Also, he played CF mostly in Anaheim in 2024, but only played a couple hundred innings there in 2025 for Colorado.
I like him though if we aren't planning to play Burleson, Herrera, and Walker in the outfield too. Grabbing Moniak would probably mean we need to trade Burleson or Herrera, which I don't see happening.

Re: Mickey Moniak?
The cardinals have enough hitters who suck at hitting and getting on base they don’t need to trade prospects for another

Re: Mickey Moniak?
He hit .802 in Anaheim 2 years ago. Plenty of better options but Considering we just endured a full season of Walker in RF, he's a big step up.

What was your home OPS? Ohhh we weren't talking about that and I wasn't talking about Walker. So if you want his away OPS, look it up
