That brand of baseball ended when the Cardinals hired LaRussa. He wanted power hitters.

I didn't call him a putz. Also, if Mo shared with BDW the nefarious hacking that he and others knew about, BDW is immediately complicit at that very point.
Mo had BDW by the short hairs for the last decade.
Re: Cardinals lost their identity
Mo should have been fired years ago. Instead they created a new position and a promotion for Mo. President of Baseball Operations. He was still acting as the GM while there is / was a GM put in place and never heard a peep out of him.rockondlouie wrote: ↑14 Oct 2025 08:49 am One person is to blame, the guy who had control of the major league roster & the minor league system.
BDWJr was asleep at the wheel allowing Mo to destroy the franchise, should've been fired years ago.
(And yes, I put the blame of BDWJr years ago in multiple threads I started for not doing so).

I have been anti-Mo the longest on here, but people ignore a massive smoking gun that shows the hacking was not an organizational doing but instead a lone individual with a vendetta against Luhnow.hmoss859 wrote: ↑14 Oct 2025 12:29 pmSpot onJuanAgosto wrote: ↑14 Oct 2025 09:48 am The Cardinals lost their identity about 10 years ago. If this was a Mo thing the was far dumber than anyone thought he was.
The story came to light as Luhnow’s trade notes were handed to Deadspin to publish. Why would an organization hack a team then hand the evidence over to deadspin to publish?
People always forget the files being handed over to Deadspin.
Re: Cardinals lost their identity
I wonder how much of a hand Tony LaRussa had in pulling the trigger on flipping Colby Rasmus for bullpen reinforcements, SP depth and a veteran outfielder: Dotel, Rzepczynski, Jackson and Patterson. Hindsight being 20/20, it almost looks/feels like Mo made sure it was the last time someone told him what to do. We’ll never know for sure.Cranny wrote: ↑14 Oct 2025 19:13 pmOkay, Riff Raff. One thing we do know is Chris Correa did 4 years in Federal Prison for hackgate. Pretty wild to think about.
