Let the record show that the Cardinals took Luken Baker late in the 2nd round of the 2018 draft at pick 75, Mariners took Raleigh at pick 90 in the 3rd round.

Not even close...if he wins then the award is meaningless. If we're going to use post season to gauge as player then Kershaw is one of the worst pitchers around as his post seasons have mostly been (canine-fertilizer). A power hitter hitting .331, leading the league in runs, BA, OPS, SLG, TB, and absolute beast of a season for someone with that type of power. Raleigh barely hit his weight. If the MVP is MVP for the regular season, then hands down its Judge.Melville wrote: ↑12 Oct 2025 22:06 pmMVPbccardsfan wrote: ↑12 Oct 2025 22:01 pm Guy is an absolute beast! He crushed that ball tonight and turned that game around. Pretty good defensive C as well. Smart hitter and he is a switch hitter. Only thing he doesn't have is base stealing speed, but hey, he's a catcher. Team leader. Nice to see a really good player who is bringing it in the playoffs too. I wouldn't mind Rodriquez for my CFer either.....

When was Pujols taken? Which of these 2 is a guaranteed HOFer?An Old Friend wrote: ↑13 Oct 2025 13:23 pm Let the record show that the Cardinals took Luken Baker late in the 2nd round of the 2018 draft at pick 75, Mariners took Raleigh at pick 90 in the 3rd round.

His lowest production season was as good as Gormans best
They’ve gotten the opposite directions since

Well, he’s at worst 2nd. I would absolutely consider that to be close.smilinjoefission wrote: ↑13 Oct 2025 13:50 pmNot even close...if he wins then the award is meaningless. Just pointing out that drafts have some surprises...to make it seem like a Cards issue is just idiotic. I didn’t call it a Cards issue. I just thought it was interesting, sorry you didn’t. You can move along.scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑13 Oct 2025 17:17 pmJust pointing out that drafts have some surprises...to make it seem like a Cards issue is just idiotic. And he is an elite defensive catcher as well.Youboughtit wrote: ↑13 Oct 2025 17:19 pm22 game winning ABs this season. Most in baseball. Judge had 5. That is the definition of clutch and a MVP.
Re: Cal Raleigh
that pride day is awesome - just to ruffle a lot of old white guys feathers!bccardsfan wrote: ↑13 Oct 2025 11:54 amIgnoring the human garbage responses about looking shirt up above... What strikes me is how the cards have completely lost their way. Yes, I agree they are a marketing organization, and most teams need to do that to some extent. But although you and I disagree often on individual players or strategy, we are both civilized when holding discussions. So yes, I agree they are a marketing org, and they have zero allegiance to any of the things or ideas or groups they market to. For example, they have pride days, and Christian Days, and military days, and even Grateful Dead night. Ownership doesn't care about any of these things, they just want to make money. It is kind of hilarious and sad to watch, all at once. It is amazing the energy put into the Cardinals hall of fame and ballpark village, and how little was put into getting an experienced competent manager and assembling a team that plays sound fundamental baseball.Melville wrote: ↑13 Oct 2025 08:23 amYou make such an important point.bccardsfan wrote: ↑12 Oct 2025 22:29 pmYep. At this point I am watching because I just like baseball and it is joy to see a guy like that carry a team. Like Albert used to do for the Cards. Vlad may still go off for the Jays this series. Fun to watch the premium players. Vlad was quiet tonight, but I think he will come on. Interesting series. Classic tight playoff game with good pitching tonight.Melville wrote: ↑12 Oct 2025 22:06 pmMVPbccardsfan wrote: ↑12 Oct 2025 22:01 pm Guy is an absolute beast! I am watching Seattle for several reasons - and every reason involves a specific player - but it begins with The Big Dumper.
Same with Milwaukee and Toronto.
What a terrific phrase on your part: "I am watching because I just like baseball and it is joy to see a guy like that carry a team."
It is the essence of fandom.
And it is something the Cardinals have completely abandoned.
That said, what is pathetic is how they let MO completley mismanage things for the past 4 or 5 years. How they let the minor league instruction system fall far behind what other teams were doing, and critically, how they let such incompetence rule in the dugout. I never thought Dave Roberts was a particularly good manager, but he does manage egos on that insanely expensive roster of super stars. However, the other three teams that are still in it are managed by competent people and play pretty decent fundamental ball. For the most part, the teams have one or two stars and the rest are either rising stars or role players. The rosters are reasonably well constructed, and the teams play hard for their managers, and the managers are not idiots at in game strategy. Sure, some moves don't work out, but they are not clueless. The Cards need a competent manager and pitching coach and some direction. Watching post season baseball makes that even clearer than it is during the regular season. This team is not all that far away from being good. We have discussed these things ad nauseum, but clearly the Cards need starting pitching, at least one really good corner OFer, and maybe one other good player. They need to clear clutter and redundancies, and get after it. They have some pieces in the minors that are a year or two away. It is unlikely there is a saviour down there for next season except for JJ (hopefully). Doyle, maybe, but he needs a year in the minors at least. So we shall see if this ship is righted under Bloom. It is clear to me he needs to make changes in the dugout as well, but that is looking unlikely for next season.
Re: Cal Raleigh
Also zero passed balls in 1072 innings

He had 14 SB's this year. He'd be second on the Cards in SB's
Judge had 12
You know you can look [shirt] up moran
Re: Cal Raleigh
It's close but Judge's stat line beats Raleigh's.
Whoever wins MVP, Big Dumper is Player of the Year, which isn't an award but should be.
