I have a hunch that Bloom will be looking for an OF or 2. If nothing else to give some competition in the OF. Scott and Walker's hitting needs some significant improvement. The lineup just isn't strong to carry a lite hitting OF.

I doubt that he will become a league average hitter. I would take the under on that. Maybe his best season at the plate is league average though.

If he can get above the 25th percentile, he would be an asset to his team... meaning an above average MLB player. That means about a .675 OPS. That is a more attainable goal, IMHO, for him.

He definitely needs to find ways to just get on base. Being a bunt threat, he should bring the infield in and then there should be more holes for him to find in it when he swings away. Being able to hit line drives to all 4 of the gaps will keep the outfielders from playing shallow.

It seems like for the first two months of the season he was a much more dynamic offensive player than what we saw the last four months. So, yes or no question number one- do you think he can make adjustments and become a league average hitter. Yes on no question number two- if he does become a league average hitter is that enough for you to plug him into CF and stop looking for a center fielder? If he doesn't become a league average hitter, what then?

1. Can he? Yes but 50-50 at best.
2. If he does become avg? Yes but keep looking.

A year ago the Cardinals drafted Ryan Mitchell in Round 2 ... Thought not a HS infielder , the Cardinals quickly announced him as CF.
Maybe he can become the long term future in the OF. He already is ranked as the No. 10 prospect in our system at just 18 yrs. old

when? In 4 years...he hasn't a pro AB to his name.

I don't anyone can stomach 4 more years of VS2 AB's

some can stomach 4 more AB's, but I'm not one of them.

Get rid of VS2...don't count on immediate help from Mitchell, if you are...then I have beach front property in Kansas I'd like to sell you. It has a gorgeous view of the Ocean.

Man this is a tough crowd. Scott was a rookie playing in a defective team offense. And he was never plugged in expecting a big bat to start with.

I think there is room for improvement and with the right coaching and team build around him we should see some. How much is unclear. But as mentioned earlier just get on base at .314 and he is worth keeping in CF for excellent defense and so many base hits/walks turned into doubles.

BTW before someone says 314 is too low that is the Cards team average for 2025.

I agree
Not predicting anything for him but considering where the team is for 2026 I’d give more rope to Scott for next season.

I agree with your appeal for patience. What I didn't see from Scott last year, and need to see is a change in approach. He is never going to be any type of slugger. He could utilize his elite speed if he could get on base. He hasn't demonstrated a willingness to develop the skills needed to bring that about. I think he could- but he hasn't. His major league future could depend on it. If he can't get on base, he could be Siani'd.

his approach is the same as it was in AA when I said he would fly out to LF and roll over to 2B in the majors, thus he would be a liability at the plate. What he does in the field won't overcome the woes at the plate.

He can't hit liners to the oppo field
