That is a real weak link in this team
Re: Why is Faulk on the PP unit?
I think Broberg or Mailloux could earn the spot but right now it should 100% be Parayko ahead of Faulk.

It should be Broberg IMO. Maybe Mailloux eventually.

Re: Why is Faulk on the PP unit?
I second that.
Making brisk and accurate passes on a power play is the ONLY thing Faulk does well.
Could Broberg, Mailloux, or Parayko be as effective?
Possibly. We haven't had the luxury of talented dmen like these for a good while.

Re: Why is Faulk on the PP unit?
People need to calm down on Faulk. I'll be the first one to say if he is having a tough year this year that he is no longer useful. But the guy can play hockey and had a career low shooting percentage last year. So either it was an unlucky season, or whatever, but it appears he was as aggressive as he normally would been, maybe his shot choices were off or he lost velocity who knows His shot percentage 2 years ago was lowest. It went up a tick last year but his shot thru percentage was 10 percent lower. I'm sure there's an explanation for that. But I'm giving a guy who has put up 50 points in a Blues uni on the defense and been our best defender for a 3 year span a break.
I have a feeling people are going to be surprised by how good the Broberg/Faulk line will progress in year 2. If the Blues think Faulk is the PP guy, I'm going to trust it. Parayko not being on the PP is OK with me since they have to find ways to take minutes off him.

No he didn’t. His career low was the year priorcallitwhatyouwant wrote: ↑09 Oct 2025 13:44 pm But the guy can play hockey and had a career low shooting percentage last year.

Faulk’s a proven vet. That said, I bet he has a short leash. Mailloux and Broberg would be good options as well. But they clearly want Mailloux to just focus on 5 on 5 for now. My guess is by midseason Mailloux has taken over the 2nd unit.

Good to know we know who our whipping boy is this year!
Like MN said, he a vet and probably on a short leash.

Re: Why is Faulk on the PP unit?
Yea it's kind of bush league tho to be honest. What has Faulk ever done other than put his head down and play hard? He had to suck up some big time minutes on that stretch when Parayko went out. Without Faulk, doubt we make playoffs. Yet here we are dissing this guy for having his back to back down years shooting wise, while potentially getting better defensively than the previous 2.
Re: Why is Faulk on the PP unit?
As are Parayko and Mailloux. And Parayko can rip off slappers with the best of them. Even if they aren't super accurate, it would generate big rebounds.
I'm not passing any judgements, I'll give them time as well, but we've seen lots of Faulk on the PP. He's fine. Lots of room for improvement.
Re: Why is Faulk on the PP unit?
Bank! He's 33, on the back nine of career — I understand that — but still a decent player. And for those who are eager to move him, do you really want Mailloux to be 2RHD and Kessel (I guess?) as 3RHD?callitwhatyouwant wrote: ↑09 Oct 2025 14:20 pmYea it's kind of bush league tho to be honest. As to your boldface, shooting percentage for a defenseman is a meaningless stat — and there are many meaningless stats.
What's more, who's a better option in the league at 6.5 million?
Re: Why is Faulk on the PP unit?
It’s really amazing how ineffective Faulk’s shot is. He will miss the net on prime scoring chances all of the time and when he does get it on net it’s usually right at the goalie’s chest.
With PP1/PP2 time all last season where he played 78 games Faulk only scored 4 goals! Above 20:00 a night as well. He got 2 goals in 60 games the year before that.

Faulks best hockey as a Blue has usually been while he’s not part of the PP.

You can be a serviceable vet and still be the weak link on a team intending to compete with the big boys.
This can happen with out ad hominem the observers (need a whipping boy/something is wrong with the observer)
It can happen also without policing who has right of first refusal on declaring something "I will be the first! but not one moment before then" ok lol
