Donny is a really good ball player who could fit a role with some great bats around him but he’s not a game changer
And Noot is a JAG……his hype has passed and should’ve been traded the season that WBC was all the rage.
Donovan won’t get you the next skenes.

But he might get you a future MOTR arm.
Yes, he might, and that is the key word. Some team might trade you a pitcher potentially like McGreevy for Donovan, but the guy might turn out to be more like Pallante.

Agree
Donny brings more to your team than some middling arm. I don’t trade him

We'll see how it goes, but I think we will get better than a McGreevy out of Donovan.

If all the cardinals trade are the bums who aren’t even good enough for the cardinals to want to keep they aren’t going to get much back. It will be pretty much the same players that have missed the post season three seasons in a row it would be bloom continuing mos strategy of sustained mediocrity I hope bloom doesn’t go with that horrible strategy

If they do not, they will be making a bad trade.

I don't see where this rebuild is dependent in anyway on a Donovan trade.

not the kind of guy that is usually a component of a rebuild..

and all his “leadership skills” lead the the team to fifth place, six games under…

Of course they should trade him..
It’s cringey how ppl want to keep him.

“Wait! Donovan is good!”

Right, so was Jeff Samardizija in 2014. In fact, JS was really good when traded: 2.83 ERA over 17 starts.

Bloom should 100% trade BD this offseason unless he’s getting absolutely lowballed. Which I doubt he will.
It’s my observation over several years, that cards followers often get overly attached to individual players….sometimes to the point of lessening team success…

They just can’t let go..

Significant portion of fan base must be very susceptible to brainwashing….The smartest fans in baseball think BDW/MO have been running out a ML outfield, SP staff, and ML manager. ::crazya:: ::crazya::

Donovan has played 4 seasons he’s never scored more than 65 runs never he’s driven in more than 50 runs just once he doesn’t have much speed doesn’t have much power and people act like the cardinals can’t do without him. I think it has to do with the cardinals have so many awful players any decent player makes them think they are great and can’t be replaced. Trade him

Both players have two years remaining so Bloom knows whatever their value is , it certainly would bring more in return than if they are kept for 2026 and then shopped with just one year remaining.
Both are left handed bats and Cards have ample left sided guys. In addition , Bloom knows he has JJ Wetherholt knocking on the door and could be the 2nd baseman in Bloom's rebuild plans.

The GM meetings are set for November in Las Vegas. Sure there will be some rumors coming out from that conclave though trades usually don't come til the Winter Meeting .. that is Dec. 7-8 in Orlando Disney
Donovan will be attractive to a lot of teams. Noot will be a throw in.

So what do you expect to get for a player like that?

You are missing the point cranny.

Donny is C. Bloom's BEST TRADE chip (He's not dealing I. Hererra or M. Winn) and his BEST CHANCE at landing a major league starting pitcher.

JJW is going to be manning 2nd base for at least the next decade if he's anywhere close to the player he's projected to be.

Donny doesn't profile as the best option at 3rd base, a position where Bloom will need to find a power bat if Gorman doesn't pan out.

He can play in the OF but once again, Bloom needs to draft & develop, trade for or sign a power bat for one of the corners.

We all like Donny, no disputing his value.

But's it's exactly that value that could being back a younger, less expensive player/pitcher Bloom can build around.

Dealing him w/two yrs of control left insures a better return.
Good points Rock. And Donovan might be the guy you have to deal to get a quality arm.
I do disagree with you concerning 3B. Unless JJ is put there I think Donovan is your best option.

Prospects. Reports say There is a lot of interest in him I’m not saying give him away but people saying a guy who doesn’t score a lot of runs or drive in a lot of runs doesn’t have much power or speed is a must keep player who should be extended is bizarre

Problem is noots trade value was higher before last season than this season. Waited too long and we are selling low. Donovan at very least probably still has same value as last season.

Does girsch actually exist?

Maybe a figment of John Mozeliak's imagination?
