NHL Signings Today

Post by TheJackBurton »

There has been a bit of a flurry
Elliotte Friedman
@FriedgeHNIC
Β·
33m
Jack Eichel 8 x $13.5M extension in Vegas
As soon as McDavid extended you figured Vegas would get busy

Then imagine being McDavid, you take less money and turn around and they sign Walman 7/49 and then you hear this for a 35 year old dman
Edmonton Oilers
@EdmontonOilers
Β·

EK YEAH! πŸ’ͺ

The #Oilers have signed defenceman Mattias Ekholm to a three-year contract extension with an AAV of $4 million.
11 million on 2 very average to below average dmen and that gives them 18.7 to sign 8 players. Yep you can get a lot of quality for a 2 million average especially when you have to replace both goaltenders.

It's not official yet, but evidently it's really close and will be about the equal of McDavid's including a signing bonus and NMC

Heading home from Winnipeg, where we did some feature work today

Hearing Jets and Kyle Connor have made progress on a long-term extension.

Team opens Thursday and everyone working to close it beforehand.

I think the NHL website posted 8 years / $96 million for Connor

Yeah, it hadn't been fully official when I put it up but those were the numbers being tossed.

Good for him, and good for Winnipeg being able to keep a home grown, bad for the Blues since he absolutely kills us.

I wouldn't call Ekholm "average" or "very below average". He's still one the top defenders in the NHL, adds a little offense and is never minus. 4 million for him is a bargain Jacky-Poo.

One of the most, if not the most underrated player in the league. Have always hoped that Kyrou can aspire to become the Blues' version of Connor.

He's weak and easy to shut down. I wouldn't be scared of him.

Should we be on Holloway/Broberg watch? Armstrong didn't say he wasn't interested in signing them early. He said he didn't want to set the bar with their signings. I think they both have the same agent. Maybe matching 8 x 8 contracts? The Blues do have the leverage that they are restricted next year, not UFA.

Word on ESPN earlier today was Holloway is getting between 9 & 11 million per season.

Yep very easily. It's kind of funny two of the most underrated players play in the same division. Him and Thomas both.

Yes if I was the Blues I would sit Kyrou in front of tv and have him watch Conner video for hours every single day until it finally sinks in. I don't need him to play exactly like him, but there's no reason he can't play at that same level.

Ha! He needs to put up a MONSTER season for anything north of 9.

It's so funny you say that. My brother & I can watch some games together from time to time & it so frustrates him how that Connor always seems to have the Blues' number. Then he tells me, "I wish Kyrou were made to sit & watch Connor game videos & be told to play like this!"

Edmonton screwed the pooch and is double-dumming it with contracts like this. Hahaha!

McDavid's gonna completely waste his career and for what? Completely inept management.

No team has more pressure to win right now than the Oilers...they have 2 years to satisfy McDavid or he's gone...and they just lost their opener to the Flames.

Isn't that the truth? The level of stupidity in team management for the last 15 years has been amazing. They give up a 1st round pick for Walman & then sign him to a 7x7 when they are tight in payroll. :roll: :roll:
