A couple of years later I attended the Miracle in Michigan game where Kordell Stewart threw a 64 yard touchdown pass as time ran out. The few Buffs fans in the Big House were celebrating loudly and I gave them a backhanded compliment congratulating them for winning without having to resorting to cheating. They were confused until they noticed the Mizzou hat I was wearing and then they just kind of shut up. That season was McCartney’s last at Colorado.

It was a totally crazy situation.

True, but counting to five should not be an insurmountable task for a staff of more than five college graduates regardless of the circumstances.
