Outfield

Post by Danno636 »

Want to turbocharge the rebuild while staying in budget? Upgrade either RF or CF. You have in house replacements for Arenado, Noot, and Donovan (if that is who is traded this off-season). Scott, Church, Siani, and Walker were all replacement level this year.

My vote (without spelling out how we accomplish the trade)- Jarren Duran, OF Red Sox.
Here are a few trade rumors from various sites which delve into his profile:

Offensively, none of Scott, Church, Siani, and Walker were even close to replacement level

Just adding one solid OF bat would make a huge difference.

Oh my god, that would be so dumb to trade for Duran.

It's not what I would do, but why do you say it is dumb?

The StL outfield production has sucked for 3 years. There has not been a legitimate bat out there since Bader and O'Neill. And pud Marmol couldn't stand them. So we end up with the current nonsense of Nootbaar, Scott, and Walker.

Walker looks like baseball is some foreign sport to him.
Scott thinks he's a star but in reality, he sucks.
Nootbaar's most noteworthy action is falling off a rail and landing on IR.

Great work, John boy and Oli. You two dumb[ash] created this (bleep) show.

Why would Boston trade him when his option is $8? He's also another LH OF bat...

The name of the game right now is accumulating prospects.

You trade for Duran, you:
1. Deplete your prospects/trade chips in a big way that you should be using to get prospects and/or build for the future.
2. Probably add to payroll since JD is hitting arbitration.
3. Have him for ONLY 3 YEARS.

To suggest a Duran trade is totally tone deaf to the Cards' game plan.

Sorry, I dont want to be satisfied with the garbage seasons we have seen the last 3 years. Mozeliak and Marmol are largely to blame.

I ignore anyone who says Bader was a legitimate bat.
