Bolduc line rushes for Mont
3rd line LW with Kirby Dach.... again it looks like Army crushed another acquisition getting a good up and coming RHD for a top 9 LW, take that all day long. This on top of Broberg/Holloway, Blues are set

Re: Bolduc line rushes for Mont
I honestly hope Bolduc crushes it. He was one of the more excited prospects for the last few years. You just saw the shot. Holloway I think turned some peoples heads last year seeing that no look wrister and that heavy clapper from the right dot. When you combine that with Snuggy who also has an electric shot, all the sudden a guy like Bolduc who is a really good player becomes an option to trade in hopes for another really good player. The Blues don't have time to wait to make moves. If Broberg/Holloway/Thomas/Kyrou/Neighbours/Snuggy all make another step forward. The time for winning is now. If they don't, then the tinkering phase is still here, but you have to figure out how to get contracts signed. Maillloux definitely buys time and a different position group than Bolduc did.

I hope Bolduc does well this season. I hope Mailloux does well this season. I don’t care to get every update from every game, practice or interview involving Bolduc this season though.
Also, Holloway started last season on the 3rd line too. Where Bolduc is in their lineuo precisely today is pretty meaningless. I just don’t care.

I understand why the trade was made and think it’s a good gamble for the blues to take. And mailloux has looked good in preseason. But we don’t need to pretend that bolduc doesn’t have any potential just because the world’s worst poster thinks he’s a future hall of famer. He could very easily move to the 2nd line and start putting up big numbers opposite demidov.

I think we are all in agreement that Bolduc has a ton of potential we've seen it albeit in a small sample size window and only under Montgomery. If you get a franchise RHD for a top 9 LW unless your team is loaded on the right side you make that deal. The Blues feel like they are set at top 2 line forward and with Stenberg and Carbonneau on the horizon they were able to spend some capital to make this happen. The Average Gatsby wrote: ↑07 Oct 2025 10:27 am I understand why the trade was made and think it’s a good gamble for the blues to take. Just about every sane, reasonable poster on here has said one or more of the following (paraphrasing):The Average Gatsby wrote: ↑07 Oct 2025 10:27 am I understand why the trade was made and think it’s a good gamble for the blues to take. -Bolduc is a talented winger who knows how to score
-It's a bummer the Blues had to give him up to get what they needed/wanted
-Bolduc could turn into a consistently good to very good forward for Montreal
-In order to acquire a talented player, you have to give up something valuable (talented player, top draft pick, etc.)
I've not read anyone who has said Bolduc does not have potential. But some (and not just our resident idiot) have approached this as if he's a perennial 40-goal scorer based on maybe 2/3's of a season.
I like the kid and, like many others, hope he does very well in Montreal (except when they play the Blues). But my focus is on the Blues and my rooting interests will be on Mailloux, who I also hope does very well and turns into the RD many think he can be. There's nothing wrong with a win-win trade.

I wonder, if the Blues hung on to Bolduc, what the reaction would be when Neighbours ultimately got traded? Have to consider the big picture, the Blues organization has a lot of talented wingers and ultimately (soon?) they won't all fit.

Define what this means please...
McAvoy, Hamilton, Fox, Karlsson, Makar
I would consider them franchise rh defense....players that would never be traded...

Re: Bolduc line rushes for Mont
Sure, I agree with most of this. But right now we didn’t trade a top 9 lw for a franchise rhd. We traded a top 9 lw for a bottom paring rhd. Both players have potential to be more, maybe even this season, but that’s what they are right now. Which is still a worthwhile gamble given the blues glut of left wing prospects and the lack of rhd prospects.Harry S Deals wrote: ↑07 Oct 2025 10:40 amI think we are all in agreement that Bolduc has a ton of potential we've seen it albeit in a small sample size window and only under Montgomery. Very good point. This trade was coming one way or another regardless. Now we have Dvorsky, Stenberg and Kaskimaki pushing. If Stancl and Pekarcik develop well, they won’t be too far behind. And Alexandrov is always an option too.
And of course Carbo might be a lot more developed a year from now too.

Re: Bolduc line rushes for Mont
Bolduc's placement on tbe third line is akin to swapping Suter between second and third line. Highly fluid especially given the shirt leash Newhook is on. He is going to get a lot of time on pp. Really exciting Habs lineup with four strong lines and solid D especially if Dobson stays healthy. I am maybe in a minority in thinking there goaltending is the weakest link especially if Montembeault falters.
Re: Bolduc line rushes for Mont
Bolduc was always projected to be middle six. He will play on the second line, for sure this year. This was a good trade for everyone and hopefully it continues to work out for everyone.
We should all be very happy with this trade. The Blues have good forward depth they used to add to their defense to set up the next five years while not rushing Jiricek. Sometimes everyone can win.

Re: Bolduc line rushes for Mont
I think Army would want more back in a Neighbours deal than Bolduc who was far far less of a known commodity. Neighbours is already one of the top goal scorers in his draft class and Neighbours looks to be a guy wearing a letter on his sweater at some point. But for sure more trades will happen as you say they wont all fit we cant be smitten with young players. There is a 23 man roster with waiver rules others will be dealt or lost at some point
