Re: McDavid
This is a huge deal and the NHLPA is going to be bummin about it. The team gets a chance to win the cup over the next 3 seasons. Someone else is going to end up paying the bag for McDavid on the next one. I definitely thought it was going to be 15 or 16x2 when everyone started leaking short contract. But this is pretty crazy
Re: McDavid
The Walman contract is a head-scratcher. LOL!

Re: McDavid
simply amazing they get a massive discount for McDavid and then turn around and waste it on Walman.STL fan in MN wrote: ↑06 Oct 2025 11:55 am 2 years x $12.5M. He took a huge discount but only for 2 years.
Just simply amazing.
So they'll have 22 million to sign 2 goaltenders 3 dmen, and 5 forwards.
Good luck.
Re: McDavid
McDavid and Walman must be best of friends. Though Walman did kinda show up, Last year. So maybe overpaid, by just a little.

Re: McDavid
But everyone knows McDavid took a discount. Kaprizov set the market already for players not willing to take a discount. McDavid’s deal will not set the market on anything, IMO.TheJackBurton wrote: ↑06 Oct 2025 14:26 pmThe best player in the game takes 12.5? That resets the salary structure.
hard to say you deserve more than him.

You said that with the Kaprizov signing lolTheJackBurton wrote: ↑06 Oct 2025 14:26 pmThe best player in the game takes 12.5? That resets the salary structure.
Re: McDavid
Smart move on McJesus part. It'll be fun to see how many teams keep him in their plans. The cap is going up 18 million between next year and the season after. Pretty much open season for Connor.

He did take a discount, but it's going to be hard to justify paying a player who scores 80 points 4-5 million more a season.tfriede2 wrote: ↑06 Oct 2025 14:33 pmBut everyone knows McDavid took a discount. I mean Drai extended last year for 14, how many players should get more than him?

Re: McDavid
I don't think this resets the market, as everyone knows its McDavid taking the deal. But it definitely slows it down and likely changes some conversations that are going to be had. This is a risky move for McJesus and for the PA. If McDavid gets hurt, People are going to be bummin he didn't go for a longer tenured contract.
I do find it funny tho. It will be hard to ask for more than 12.5, even tho there are only a handful of guys that should be allowed to ask that high.

Crosby took a "discount", but that had no bearing on other salaries.TheJackBurton wrote: ↑06 Oct 2025 14:26 pmThe best player in the game takes 12.5? That resets the salary structure.

What's more, I would think that NHLPA is more interested in as many teams as possible spend to the cap. The distribution therein wouldn't make a difference?
