Rockies fire their GM. Will Mo apply?

Post by Carp4Cy »

He’d actually represent an upgrade.

So would Oli. Any chance Oli takes one of these open jobs? He knows he’s a lame duck going into 2026.

Mo wouldn't have to apply. He could have any job in baseball.

So he says. Hahaha. I bet POBOs and GMs are shaking in fear. I hope Mo gets the band back together in Colorado. Johnny and the puds! Girsh as GM, oli as dugout doofus, Dusty running the pitching staff. That'd be a real comedy. The fans would need a Rocky Mountain High to watch that nonsense.

Well, don't bet your house that Oli is a lame duck for 2026. There were some hints that Bloom could discuss an extension with Oli this offseason.
Let's wait til end of December to see if he is still lame duck for 2026 . Stranger things have happened lately with Cardinals.

Maybe Stan Kroenke can buy the Rockies and hire Mo. That'd create a true rivalry.

Mo was born in Boulder, and went to Fairview High School in Boulder where he was a pitcher and first baseman. Began college at the U. of Arizona, but came back to graduate from the U. of Colorado. Got a job pitching batting practice for the Rockies because they needed a left handed batting practice pitcher. So for him to go back to Colorado and work for the Rockies is a natural. He’d be returning home.

That would be the dream. He already owns the Nuggets and Avs. And Monfort is an even worse owner than BDW, by a lot.

1. Marmol is under contract thru 2026. He can’t just “take one of these open jobs”.
2. Nobody would hire him anyway, what has he proven except that he can’t seem to get his players to stop being brain-dead on the field?

Cool story.

At least he can’t drive that organization into the ditch since that’s where they’ve been for so long the weeds are growing over the Mercedes.

Don’t underestimate Mos ability to make things considerably worse.

Why would a team ”need” a left handed batting practice pitcher? Do the Cards have a secondary BP pitcher that’s LH? Lobbing pitches from behind a screen requires both a lefty and a righty? Seems odd.

Media has been reporting for years that Mo is ready for something different than these day-to-day responsibilities and pressures. Why would he immediately hop into more of the same right now?

If I were Mo I'd be taking at least a year off if not retiring completely. I'd be thinking what more do I have to prove/earn? Can literally just do whatever th he wants for the rest of his life.

College coaches leave all the time when they are under contract. Oli could figure out a way I'm sure. Would it require a trade of a manager, like with Joe Maddon?
