I will have to admit that Lucic looks more like a hockey player tonight. And kudos to Sunny you can see that a summer of training and not rehabbing a knee surgery really has him moving well
He's still the worst player on the ice for us by a healthy margin.
I have absolutely no issue with his impending cut.
Monty and company would certainly disagree with you. He's great in the d zone he's a leader big tough. No Sunny isn't going to wow anyone with offense but as we've seen before you need guys like him to win
I was referring to Lucic.

Blues should remedy this situation for us loyal fans

kimzey59 wrote: 02 Oct 2025 10:57 am I get the reasoning behind it; but I don't like Bjugstad on RW. He's been dominant in the FO circle(65%), I'd rather keep him there. The problem is, nobody else is stepping up to own that RW spot.
Kimzey - where are you getting the 65% stat? I just went up and looked up his career stats, and he seems closer to 48-50% (i.e. closer to Schenn's range). Maybe I'm missing something, just curious. If it's 65%, we should have him out there taking every draw!!
Preseason stats.
Thus far in pre-season; Bjugstad is at 15 wins in 23 attempts(10 of 15 against Columbus; 5 of 8 against Dallas). That's 65.2%.
He's been killing it so far.
5 for 7 for Bjugstad tonight.
Up to 66.7% for the Preseason.

Let's not overthink things; keep the guy at center.

Omg I'm sorry hilariously bad hockey player no doubt. I'm guessing Neighbours and Torop will have Lucic sitting

I'm liking the the direction of Snuggerud's game. Faster than last year ... looks like he belongs and last year was more than just a flash. Broberg, Holloway, Snuggerud, and Mailloux added to Thomas, Kyrou, Buch, Neighbours, CP55, Fowler and Binnington should be fun to watch while the young guys get added in.

Lucic is horrible, like he is sub AHL bad. Can they stop with this nonsense already. The Blues have managed to exist this whole time without him I think they will be ok

I am really going to need some reason besides face-offs why Bjugstad is in an NHL lineup if this is what we're going to see.

Binner is possibly about to blossom into the dominant peak of his career with this whole Canada thing going on. Him and the top guys are going to come firing out of the gate.

Faulk looked awful

Broberg looked good

Kyrou looks like he dug deep this summer and that bodes real real well

Bjugstad made plays last game at Center. He is not a winger. Yep, Lucic is done and it's blatantly obvious. Snuggerud is the guy to watch get better throughout the season. Keep your eye on him. I think Stenberg might end up playing more than a couple games for the Blues this season. Joseph did some good things and some pretty bad things tonight.

Justin Faulk is such a terrible hockey player. Outside of the half season with no fans and the 2021-22 when everybody on the team was good, the guy makes stupid plays on both ends of the ice non stop.

To think he’s been tied with Colt for the highest paid dman on the team is crazy. Army/Monty know this and that’s why they went after Byram so hard. If they landed him then they could have dumped Faulk to some bottom feeder. At least Leddy is off the team.

I followed the game by periodically refreshing the ESPN gamecast and box score. Seemingly every time I hit refresh the Blues had scored another goal!

Snuggerud is really a heck of a player. Just turned 21 in June. When was the last time we had a 21 year old forward as good as him? Maybe Thomas, but, after a good rookie season, he seemed to blossom at 22. Could see Jimmy scoring 50pts.

Schenn looks fresh out there. Moving well.

Binner looks in top form.

Thomas, Kyrou, Holloway, Broberg, Fowler look ready for the season to start. Fast, smooth, poised, skilled.

Mailloux and Tucker were a good pairing. Tucker looks confident. They worked well together, and I agree with one or two others I've seen mention that Mailloux will surprise. He looks like a dandy.

Bjugstad's career faceoff % is below 50% with one season a few years ago at 55%. I'm not willing to say he's worth playing every day just for that. Does a decent enough job protecting the puck with his size, but I don't see him as a 3RW or everyday 4C. As has been mentioned, he should be part of a rotation in the bottom 6 for matchups and keeping guys fresh. I wouldn't be upset for Lucic to be in that rotation over Texier, but we gotta find someone to play on the 3rd line.

Buch-Thomas-Snugg
Holloway-Suter-Kyrou
Neighbours-Schenn-Joseph/Texier?
Toro-Sunny/Bjugstad-Walker/Lucic?

Watched about half of the game last night. I really was hoping for Lucic to make the team (for his toughness, etc), but that is NOT happening...he actually surprised me a couple of time with his "wheels" (and I use that term loosely), but his decision making with the puck on his stick is way too slow for the NHL. He reminded me of being at drop-in hockey when a really old guy shows up...he can skate without the puck, and he can probably stickhandle when he's at a standstill, but he can't do both at the same time so his feet stop moving when he gets the puck.

Broberg looks great. I was really impressed with Mailloux, as well...very smooth and composed with the puck, quick decision-making, I think with just a little more seasoning in the oak barrel he could turn into a stud.

Also - the Ottowa announcers really grew on me. Seemed kind of old school, pretty dry sense of humor, and knew their hockey. The one guy really sealed the deal for me when he talked about how he used to go down and crush a couple cigs with Al Iafrate at the Zamboni gate between periods during Caps games that he was calling.
