While he may surprise me (I'm open to that), I wouldn't plan for Herrera to be any better of a catcher going forward than he has been to date. I hope he will be, but I don't use hope as a strategy. He's shown himself to be a sub-standard catcher in more than one way for two seasons. I'll believe different and plan different when he shows different.

They should trade Crooks this winter. I'm not mad if they don't, it's just the right time and he can bring back needed players. I'm also not upset if they give catching time to Herrera, as long as they don't ignore what they see. They should start the year with Pages as the primary catcher. My hope is that Bernal shows well enough at AAA by the trade deadline to call up and trade Pages..
Crooks and ???????.
If we are trading for a #19-20 prospect- just Crooks.
I would set my sites higher. We need to upgrade our roster, not make lateral moves. This is where we need Bloom to earn his keep. We have 2 top 100 catching prospects. Evaluate them , decide who will be the best, and trade the other for a top 100 prospect that fills a need.

I really don't like the idea of Herrera catching again on anything more than a "he's a third string catcher so he might only play in garbage-time" or if there's a horrible day where two catchers go down.
