Re: Will I see another Cardinal world series
In the early/ mid-90's, did anyone think the Cardinals would be 1 win away from the World Series in 96?
I think next season will be similar to this season, but optimistic the organization can start gaining some momentum again when baseball resumes in 2027.

I sincerely hope you do Bulldog. I think we get into a WS in the next 10 years.
Winning #12 might be a little more difficult. Not sure, but I think we only have one WS title in last 90 years without Stan/Gibby/Albert. Apparently it helps if you have a top 50 player of all time to build around.

Wasn’t trying to make fun of you, rather making a point that a 10 year old might not see one in his/her lifetime.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑02 Oct 2025 09:14 amHa funny.
Yea I was just thinking about how long till. The intent was to show how far we have either fallen or got to go.

Re: Will I see another Cardinal world series
I sure hope I get to watch the Cards in another World Series, but I have my doubts. I remember growing up in the 1946 to 1964 drought. I was so excited when they won the pennant on the last day of the season, that I still remember where I was, and what I was doing, when Harry started screaming “Cardinals Win the Pennant.”

All my comments around this subject stem from Cranny stating that BDW will no longer sign large FA contracts and that players will need to come from farm system. I’ve repeatedly stated that the Cards will NEVER achieve that and have never achieve that. Top Outside Talent will need to be paid. Never said I was against drafting and developing………said it was an incomplete strategyOzziesfan41 wrote: ↑02 Oct 2025 10:40 amTake a look at where their payroll ranks and then get back to me it is low because they draft and develop well. I have friends in Wis. who did not have high expectations the last couple years. Ace P Corbin Burnes left .. Hader traded..Vliser Devin Williams after him.. Willy Adames last year.
Brewer fans very pleased with 2025 season . They may not go to World Series but fans attendance has been very good and Brewers fun to watch.

Which should terrify the owners, since those fans are the future of the franchise.swatski wrote: ↑02 Oct 2025 13:00 pmWasn’t trying to make fun of you, rather making a point that a 10 year old might not see one in his/her lifetime.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑02 Oct 2025 09:14 amHa funny.

What an interesting point. Must have big talent for the Cards to achieve the WS.JohnTudor1985 wrote: ↑02 Oct 2025 12:54 pm I sincerely hope you do Bulldog. I think we get into a WS in the next 10 years.

Re: Will I see another Cardinal world series
I said they would not rely completely on the farm system, Goldfan. That holes would be filled from outside via trade or signing older vets under short term contracts ala Berkman and Beltran. Just not huge long term contacts toGoldfan wrote: ↑02 Oct 2025 14:37 pmAll my comments around this subject stem from Cranny stating that BDW will no longer sign large FA contracts and that players will need to come from farm system. No, of course, we haven’t! Jesus man, crawl out of your own head for a minute.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑02 Oct 2025 06:07 amI had you in mind, no offense. Maybe so; maybe no. Pushing 70. Great health. Gives me 10-15 years.
We haven’t been in 12 years. Our franchise long is 18 years. And we are not close to stopping this streak.
My take. The organization has allowed itself to fall a level, reference relevance. We used to be a 1B level team. Now we are a 3, out of five levels.
At a 1B level, we could compete and compete for players, both FA and trade. Not any more. We don’t have the resources.
Problems. Once you fall so far, the team and city loses its allure. No one wants to come. That’s an issue.
A team with no star power. Simply won’t get it. Look at post season. How do we get a star. First, who and where is this stud. Second what are we gonna trade? Third, will he sign here as FA? These are issues.
Once you fall too far, it’s hard to recover. Pittsburgh has the best pitcher in baseball yet….
Since 2000, 20 different teams have made WS. This year, 4 of the remaining 10 are still in post season. Seattle has never been.
Again at my age, I may age out. I ask again- where and who is the stud we can get? This is a deep hole.
I don’t see it.
Now that we are further down the food chain, a place we have not been since 90’s, we are finding how tough it is to catch up, if ever.
Have we degraded to a point of no return.
This team could be turned around, and win a World Series in the next four or five years. I actually believe that, because based on history, that is realistic-and I believe in karmic redemption.
I saw the teams of the late 50’s become the Cardinals Championships of the 1960’s.
The weak 70’s teams transform into the Championship teams of the 80’s.
The average 90’s teams transition to the dual WS Champions of the 2000’s.
So did you.
Think it through, brothers.
Give peace a chance-stay alive until 2029.

Paige why don’t you extend those thoughts about how the 70’s then 90’s were transformed to winners…..you seem to be missing the LARGE HOF transformational figures responsible…….imetsatchelpaige wrote: ↑02 Oct 2025 20:42 pmNo, of course, we haven’t! Re: Will I see another Cardinal world series
I'm 67 and I don't expect another ws appearance in my lifetime but you never know. It would just be nice if they would try to be good enough to win the division instead of maybe getting the third wc. That worked out well for Cincinnati

The reaper isn’t hanging around my door. I used ten years, a decade, as a frame of reference. My intent was a ten year ish window.
As I was typing I thought” heck I may not see another WS. Hence the OP.
No pity party here.

How about a competitive team that’s fun to watch, that wins the division, and makes it to the NLCS?sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑03 Oct 2025 04:29 am The reaper isn’t hanging around my door. I used ten years, a decade, as a frame of reference. My intent was a ten year ish window.

That is perfectly fine. That means there’s a chance to starve off history.Cranny wrote: ↑03 Oct 2025 08:02 amHow about a competitive team that’s fun to watch, that wins the division, and makes it to the NLCS?sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑03 Oct 2025 04:29 am The reaper isn’t hanging around my door. A competitive team is fine. I’m simply making note that it may take time to achieve. Any Cardinal baseball is good.
