GDT Ottawa at Blues preseason today
Let's get the GDT started earlier. I don't have lines, someone can post them when they're known

Joseph-Schenn-Bjugstad
Lucic-Sundqvist-Walker
Fowler-Parayko
Broberg-Faulk
Tucker-Mailloux
Binnington
Ellis
Neighbors and Torpo were banged up after the last game I think. Lucic being given every opportunity!

Re: GDT Ottawa at Blues preseason today
Everyone named in your post plus Kessel or Skinner for the 7th dman is likely making the real 23 man team (not the LTIR/rookie up and down stuff). I think it's the end for Texier.sneptsmoustache wrote: ↑02 Oct 2025 10:19 am Per Lou Korac on Twitter:

Bjugstad, Joseph, old Lucic, Texier were born to have their spots taken by real talent coming up, which is the cycle we're going to see. We all love Sunny but as an on ice contributor his days are numbered too. Toropchenko and Walker seem like good bets to cling to the 4th line/pressbox role for a few years. to maintain stability as the turnover occurs.
Re: GDT Ottawa at Blues preseason today
I get the reasoning behind it; but I don't like Bjugstad on RW. He's been dominant in the FO circle(65%), I'd rather keep him there. The problem is, nobody else is stepping up to own that RW spot.seattleblue wrote: ↑02 Oct 2025 10:25 amEveryone named in your post plus Kessel or Skinner for the 7th dman is likely making the real 23 man team (not the LTIR/rookie up and down stuff). Re: GDT Ottawa at Blues preseason today
I personally liked Stenberg for that role right now today but that would mean Army has to make a roster move or two he isnt ready to do or doesnt have to yet. Bjugstad is probably a better option today over Stenberg who can go down and play top line minutes and continue to simmer.kimzey59 wrote: ↑02 Oct 2025 10:57 amI get the reasoning behind it; but I don't like Bjugstad on RW. Kimzey - where are you getting the 65% stat? I just went up and looked up his career stats, and he seems closer to 48-50% (i.e. closer to Schenn's range). Maybe I'm missing something, just curious. If it's 65%, we should have him out there taking every draw!!

Re: GDT Ottawa at Blues preseason today
I would assume he’s looking at just this preseason.sneptsmoustache wrote: ↑02 Oct 2025 12:46 pmKimzey - where are you getting the 65% stat? But I’d counter that a lot of preseason opponents are minor leaguers and Jr players so I wouldn’t take a good % in preseason to mean a whole lot.

I don’t. I’d really prefer one of our guys not be 2 hand slashed in the wrist like Demidov was. Or someone get injured from a dirty hit or having to defend a teammate in a fight because of a dirty hit.

Preseason stats.sneptsmoustache wrote: ↑02 Oct 2025 12:46 pmKimzey - where are you getting the 65% stat? Thus far in pre-season; Bjugstad is at 15 wins in 23 attempts(10 of 15 against Columbus; 5 of 8 against Dallas). That's 65.2%.
He's been killing it so far.

Same. I've been able to watch all of them on ESPN+ which is affiliated with Disney and Hulu. It's the opposition broadcasters, but that upside is that it keeps me from having to listen to the drivel of Kerbs/Vitale.The Average Gatsby wrote: ↑02 Oct 2025 12:13 pmI live out of market so this probably doesn’t apply to most people here, but I’ve been able to watch every preseason game so far on Hulu.

To an extent I'd agree.STL fan in MN wrote: ↑02 Oct 2025 12:50 pmI would assume he’s looking at just this preseason.sneptsmoustache wrote: ↑02 Oct 2025 12:46 pmKimzey - where are you getting the 65% stat? But on the deep look he's been up against some tough opponents.

6 draws against Tyler Seguin(67% for Bjug)
2 against Matt Duchene(50%)
3 against Brendan Gaunce(100%)
7 against Cole SIllinger(43%)
3 against Del Bel Belluz(67%)
1 each against Keskinen and WIlliams(100%)
Just based on career stats, he's our #2 FO guy behind Thomas. And he seems to be living up to that thus far.

Fair enough. I see the value in him playing C but I could see him being good at RW too. And the C doesn’t always have to be the one taking the draw. Plus he has the advantage of being a righty. So pair him with Schenn, a lefty, and each could take draws on their strong side and then Schenn just plays C from a defensive responsibility standpoint even when Bjug takes the draws.
Or have Bjug play C and move Schenn back to RW, which is what he mostly played in Philly I think. All sorts of things to experiment with throughout the season to see what works best.
