Re: Ellis
I may be wrong but I don't think he is claimable. But that could be wrong.
he had a fantastic year and was the team's MVP last year, and if Hofer stumbles we have a nice third string option at the moment

Unfortunately, you’re wrong. Ellis is now waiver eligible.seattleblue wrote: ↑01 Oct 2025 12:09 pm I may be wrong but I don't think he is claimable. But that could be wrong.

I don’t think he’d get claimed but you never know. Especially with goalies. They seem to get claimed more often. But he has 0 games of NHL experience. Hopefully get gets through whenever he’s placed on waivers.
I’m not sure I care enough to guess at what teams might try to put a claim in on him though. We’ll find out when we find out.

Re: Ellis
I could totally see a team that is building with youth claim Ellis. That's why they have scouts. His success is not a secret. I could see a team like San Jose claiming him. I am stunned that the Blues haven't given him preseason time. Maybe they are rewarding him by keeping him with the big club but trying to limit his exposure by not playing him. The Blues gave Will Cranley more time. This is just a math problem that needs to be worked out through a trade.

Darn. You know what's even worse than being wrong? Admitting when you're wrong. Oh, it's awful boys!STL fan in MN wrote: ↑01 Oct 2025 12:21 pmUnfortunately, you’re wrong. Re: Ellis
Just about every team will be sending down their number 3 goalie at the same time, so if someone was in the market, there would be plenty to choose from. And, the claiming team has to keep him on their NHL roster for a minimum of 30 days. So they would have to feel that he is ready to be their NHL 2G. Which means disposing of the current 2G. And if he isn't ready for that job, he still has to clear waivers to send him down. Now what do they do for NHL 2G? With all this going on for all teams at the same time, I have to think he is safe.

Re: Ellis
I see your point but a couple goalies get claimed to start the season just about every year. I doubt Ellis would get claimed but there’s an above zero chance.leedog68 wrote: ↑01 Oct 2025 16:17 pm Just about every team will be sending down their number 3 goalie at the same time, so if someone was in the market, there would be plenty to choose from. Re: Ellis
If he’s claimed by someone then he has to go through waivers again regardless to go down to the AHL.
The 30 day rule is if he goes unclaimed, then the team can send him down again without waivers if he hasn’t played 10 games yet or been on the NHL roster for 30 days.

Thanks for clearing that up.bluetunehead wrote: ↑01 Oct 2025 20:59 pmIf he’s claimed by someone then he has to go through waivers again regardless to go down to the AHL.
