My how far the Cardinals have fallen

Post by ScotchMIrish »

When DeWitt fired Matheny he said "Winning isn't enough. Our fans want more." When he said that the Cardinals were #2 in MLB attendance and in the midst of the 7th consecutive winning season under Matheny.

Now with 2 losing seasons in the last 3 our new president of baseball operations talks about hard decisions and short term sacrifice and DeWitt is keeping the manager and we haven't had 2 losing seasons over a 3 year period since 1991 - 1999. We haven't had 3 losing seasons over a 4 year period since 1956-1959.

Which Wharton brainiac came up with the following strategy - raise ticket prices, after tickets sold in 2025 fell by over a million, and there have been two losing seasons in the past three. This defies any semblance of business acumen. Hold prices steady until demand increases. What's hard to comprehend?

Anyone who admits to this joke should be terminated immediately (unless, of course, it was one the owners).

DeWitt and/or his son run the business side. I'm beginning to wonder if the son is running it now similar to what happened when Gussie passed.

We all want a fresh coat of paint but sometimes you have to rebuild the engine.

Yeah, and those cars are pennies on the dollar. Why raise ticket prices now? That's not likely to fly.

And a new driver. So Bloom is the new mechanic. But the same driver who helped wreck the engine remains.

It was fascinating to watch the same man who fired a manger who took the team to the world series and never had a losing season sit next to his new president of baseball operations who said he is going to dump and lose as a strategy for success.

Hopefully old man Bill allows Bloom the freedom and flexibility to rebuild in full. No penny pinching [nonsense] or half-[ashed] effort. And for goodness sake, keep that freaky (donkey) looking son out of the major decisions. He looks like a crook.
