Why not a Ryan O’Hearn type.

Post by sikeston bulldog2 »

Good afternoon.

Free agent. 17 Hr .281 superb fielder. Plays first and right field.

Has had four good years and this year had 133 hits. 2.1 war this year, 3.4 career. 8 years in league.

Makes 11.5 on 2 yeur deal.

Beats 400 million.

That might be a real solid addition, given the position this team is in.

He’s not a savior. He’s a good addition that could give you .280 with 20 hr from right field. The supporting cast would need to be his equal.

Ryan O’Hearn is a nice player and would certainly be a good addition to the lineup.
The only issue I would have with him specifically is that he hits LH.
And currently we are overloaded with LH bats.

I’m thinking some of the lefties will be traded.

As was mentioned earlier in this thread, O’Hearn is a good complementary piece and nothing wrong with him but we need a couple of lead dogs, guys to carry the water. We need to find a Pujols, a Witt, a Judge etc. We need that MOTO bat who just produces. Hard to find, harder to keep. Once you have that guy, everyone wants him.

Also, once you have that guy it will cost to keep him. The days of your largest contract ever being in the 100 million dollar range are long gone.

Solid suggestion in many aspects.

2025 has been his peek. He's 32 so term is now
important and he does have to want to be in St. Louis.

Looks like a high floor guy and an upgrade to Noot or Walker
but not Burleson or Herrera if at 1B or the OF, IMO.

That is very possible!
I suppose if you move on from a couple(for pitching?) then he will be a better fit.

But all the bats in AAA are also Lefties so any outside addition need to be RH

Crikey, I hope so.

So many lefty bats, but how many of them are worth anything? Donnie, Burly, and JJ, I hope.

What exactly does he provide?

He provides stellar defense with a stick. And he comes cheap. Will fit in with a cast of like players.

No stellar defense. Turns 33. Cards aren't spending money on a left handed 33 year old when they have Bumpbles
