FWIW, on the NHL Network's Power Play show yesterday afternoon Kouleas and Stewart were gushing over the signing. Saying things like "If you don't think this is a great signing for the Wild, you don't know hockey" (paraphrasing, but that was the basic sentiment). So Vitale isn't the only talking hockey head who feels that way.

The Hawks hired the Wild's "cap guru" in January....

According to EliteProspects, O’Hearn spent six years in the front office of the Coyotes, starting as the director of hockey administration in 2012 and moving up to assistant general manager from 2015-2018. He then moved to Minnesota in 2019 as the director of hockey administration for two years before making the move to assistant general manager again from 2021 until he and the Wild “mutually agreed to part ways” on Dec. 13, 2023.
“This is obviously huge, out of the blue news,” Russo tweeted when the news broke in 2023. “O’Hearn was Bill Guerin’s right-hand man and AGM since 2019 and chief contract negotiator.”
...something tells me that this guy wouldn't approve of 17 per.

For the Wild it is huge win because they were in serious trouble if they didn't.SRV1990 wrote: ↑01 Oct 2025 11:02 amFWIW, on the NHL Network's Power Play show yesterday afternoon Kouleas and Stewart were gushing over the signing. However, that doesn't mean that Kaprizov didn't essentially hold all the cards and get the number he wanted.
