The fact that Bloom is keeping Oli as manager has really ticked off the 'fire Oli ' crowd. Regardless of what he does with player personnel , he won't get a fair shake til Oli is gone .
Oli is incompetent and brings nothing to the table as far as winning baseball games……hes a nobody, make little money……why would he be kept?
Any other org would’ve done a giant flush and let new POBO fill positions.

Pujols has more MLB knowledge and intuition than Oli could ever dream of…..with the cache of winning 2 WS and a top 10 HOFer
Now who would you listen to and play your (donkey) off for??? The guy who never saw MLB and coached one rookie league season or AP?
These are multi multi millionaires filling out MLB rosters….why would they listen to a nobody??
How many world series' did Whitey Herzog win as a player? Or Tony LaRussa? Earl Weaver? Sparky Anderson?

Are you saying the 80's Cardinals didn't play their butts off because prior to then, Whitey Herzog had never been a star player or sniffed a world series?

That's just off the top of my head. Do better, man.
So you’re predicting a career path for Oli as those you listed??
Not sure I understand your point?
Mine is that Pujols is much more knowledgeable and has great Cache…..I think he’ll be a very good manager.
I’ve seen lil Oli manage…..its a chitshow…..Mo inserted him so there’s your sign
Whitey ran an entire development org, was very successful…..and was manager of the Royals BEFORE he even came here
So again whats your point?
Success and good baseball careers are not a linear relationship. Plenty of greats had lame managing careers.

If you don't like Oli, don't like Oli. But don't be an idiot about it, either.
Idiot about what??
Me saying Pujols will be a good manager has nothing to do with his MLB stats. Great knowledge, intuition for the game
His Clout WILL command respect…..2 different things
Why would a star player making $$$$$ respect what Oli Marmol has to say??? He’s a nobody who has done nothing…..very simple

You can't stay consistent. You said he was a top 10 HOF. That's true enough. But how does that have "nothing to do with his MLB stats"?

Casey Stengel was a joke of a manager with the Dodgers and Braves and a forquing genus with the Yankees.

WOW…..again…. his knowledge, intuition, demeanor will make him a good manager.
His cache as HOF alltimer will command respect
Would you rather listen to Ozzie Smith teach you to play SS or a guy who fizzled out in A ball??
I’ll pose the question again Why would a multi millionaire All-star respect a 36yr old pissant who never played in MLB and managed one season of rookie ball??? Because the POBO says so

Yeah, what did Walter Alston, Sparky Anderson or Earl Weaver or TLR bring to the table? They all seemed to do ok in the respect department.

Great knowledge of the game

Intuition for the game

Command respect

All valuable attributes…..all of which many veteran, experienced, established managers have…

Perhaps oli should go…..but Puhols is not the answer…

Please help me understand why Albert Pujols would want to manage the St. Louis Cardinals through the 2026-2027 MLB seasons. They are a .500ish team now, and will probably be a bit worse next year. The seeds are being planted for them to be good again in 2028, after a work stoppage in 2027. Payroll is low now and is expected to get lower next year. Am I missing something here?

Probably not the thread to ask, but top 10 HOF? Even leaving the deserving players being kept out of HOF, top 10 is generous.

Let Pujols go to the Angels and gain experience managing before coming to STL. We aren't winning next year anyway. I don't see the problem and feel this actually works out better or STL if they ever do decide they want Pujols to manage the Cardinals.

I don't like Oli but agree with the decision, no need to bring in the "manager of the future" next year to manage what we all expect to be a losing team.

Love Albert. Not averse to seeing him manage the Cardinals.

But when is the last time Artie Moreno made a really great move that you wish your team would have copied? I think the last one was when many of you wanted to sign Anthony Rendon.
