....gets a one-year extension?
It will be explained to us that Bloom and BDWJ do not want Marmol to manage as a lame duck.

No need to extend him
Lame duck manager doesn’t matter in a throwaway season with no veterans around
CBA lockout looming in 2027

Since Bloom talks 'continuity' , it wouldn't surprise me if Bloom did offer an extension that it would be for 2 years. From Oli's standpoint, if extension is discussed why would he accept a 1 year deal ? If not given 2 years, just manage in 2026. Since Bloom is focused on the long term and if he feels Oli is his guy , then 2 year extension would be the move for him .
I am not supporting that happen . Just trying to put myself into Bloom's spot.

Lame duck DOES NOT MATTER IN PROFESSIONAL SPORTS!!!!
You are not recruiting for a college team. You are paying professional players. They will play where they get paid the most. Actually this applies more and more with the NIL in college.
It’s all about the dollars 95% of the time.

Why would oli take a 1 year contract? Because he would be out of a job. He hasn’t done anything to demand a 2 year contract and he’s not getting hired by another team to manage if he loses this jobramfandan wrote: ↑01 Oct 2025 09:43 am Since Bloom talks 'continuity' , it wouldn't surprise me if Bloom did offer an extension that it would be for 2 years. The guy who handed out those stupid extensions is gone!
That would be inane given the CBA expiration after 2026 & Bloom will be hiring his own manager after the CBA is settled.
NOT happening.

Couldn't Bloom hire a manager during the lockout anyway? I'm not sure managers are part of the MLBPA.
