T Boone Pickens would probably like to get Drinkwitz at Okla St.
Eli is a pretty hot commodity in the college football coaching circles these days. Fortunately, Drink seems committed to Mizzou.

He's dead, so maybe not.

Auburn. Nobody dead there since Pat Dye.
Or LSU, if Drinkwitz can fake down-home better than Kelly.

There are a lot of rumors swirling about Urban Meyer jumping back into the fray. I would think he would want a more prestigious job than OkSt or Arkansas. My guess is he will be back filling Napier at Florida in about 2 months.
As far as Drink, why leave when he has a state with liberal NIL rules and decent sponsors, a new stadium, and great incoming class. Okst is a place to go and die as they are recruiting against giants in that state and Texas.

That and I can tell from being on SEC rant that a name like Drinkwitz is not going to excite the Florida fan base. They want a big name. Now maybe they're being delusional. We shall see. And I don't know how big of a buyout Napier has.rezero wrote: ↑30 Sep 2025 18:48 pm There are a lot of rumors swirling about Urban Meyer jumping back into the fray. I should have been clearer, but I think Urban Meyer is going to Florida in 2 months, not Drink.icon wrote: ↑30 Sep 2025 18:59 pmThat and I can tell from being on SEC rant that a name like Drinkwitz is not going to excite the Florida fan base. Yeah, I know what you meant. I was just speaking to the notion that a program like Florida might be interested in Drink. He is going to have to beat a top 10 team or two before that happens. The home game against Bama would be a good place to start, assuming Bama beats Vanderbilt.rezero wrote: ↑30 Sep 2025 19:23 pmI should have been clearer, but I think Urban Meyer is going to Florida in 2 months, not Drink.icon wrote: ↑30 Sep 2025 18:59 pmThat and I can tell from being on SEC rant that a name like Drinkwitz is not going to excite the Florida fan base. Re: T Boone Pickens would probably like to get Drinkwitz at Okla St.
I'm not sure "he would have to beat at Top 10 team or two" to garner interest from Florida - or any other higher on the food chain program for that matter that may open up.
I think if/when the Florida gig opens up, there would be mutual interest.
And by chance if that mutual interest manifested to an equitable offer, Drink would likely take it.
Speculation of course...

Likely is pure speculation.
Slightly possible is more likely.

I believe Drinkwitz is more interested in chasing a legacy and ego instead of going to the highest bidder.
He wants to make his mark here as a winner and program builder in the best CFB conference in America.
I believe he's going to do that or if it doesn't happen and if he is dismissed will he leave the program.
Of course if he accomplishes the goal MU will make every effort to keep him as they have done to this point.

He’s already been at Florida and left for greener pastures. Why would he want to go back?rezero wrote: ↑30 Sep 2025 19:23 pmI should have been clearer, but I think Urban Meyer is going to Florida in 2 months, not Drink.icon wrote: ↑30 Sep 2025 18:59 pmThat and I can tell from being on SEC rant that a name like Drinkwitz is not going to excite the Florida fan base. How much is enough or is it simply ego?
Rank of SEC Coach, Name, School, Compensation (national rank is in parentheses).
1. Kirby Smart, Georgia: $13.28 million (1st)
2. Steve Sarkisian, Texas: $10.6 million (3rd)
3. Kalen DeBoer, Alabama: $10 million (7th)
4. Brian Kelly, LSU: $9.98 million (8th)
5. Mark Stoops, Kentucky: $9.01 million (9th)
6. Lane Kiffin, Ole Miss: $9 million (T-10th)
6. Eliah Drinkwitz, Missouri: $9 million (T-10th)
6. Josh Heupel, Tennessee: $9 million (T-10th)
9. Brent Venables, Oklahoma: $8.15 million (15th)
10. Billy Napier, Florida: $7.37 million (21st)
11. Mike Elko, Texas A&M: $7 million (T-23rd)
12. Hugh Freeze, Auburn: $6.73 million (25th)
13. Sam Pittman, Arkansas: $6.5 million (32nd)
14. Shane Beamer, South Carolina: $6.4 million (33rd)
15. Jeff Lebby, Mississippi State: $4.25 million (T-49th)
16. Clark Lea, Vanderbilt: $3.19 million (59th)
Drinkwitz almost makes as much as the true freshmen QB for Michigan (Underwood).

Hmm, maybe, but these guys are wired differently. They’re looking for the next bigger, better thing, not a been there, done that situation.Curmudgeon wrote: ↑01 Oct 2025 13:26 pm$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$netboy65 wrote: ↑01 Oct 2025 11:33 amHe’s already been at Florida and left for greener pastures. I don’t think he gets offers from a better program until he starts beating them. Now, Mizzou does have a winning record against UF. I just don’t see that as a better job anymore. UF hasn’t been UF since urban Meyer.
