I don't love Marmol, but let's be real...
1. Bloom has been here two seasons. His decision to keep Oli, for now, is more informed than any of us.
2. Bloom is about to make some big moves. Maybe keeping Oli, for now, isn't a top priority. Maybe the time is not now to unleash a new manager.
3. 2025 Cards: They did almost NOTHING in the offseason and sold at the deadline.
Hot take: If the Cards made only modest moves in the offseason and stood pat at the deadline, they would at least be better than Tito's Reds....

If Bloom does anything at all after Thanksgiving, it'll look like a stark improvement over the lazy (donkey) Mozeliak.
BTW, did anyone watch the duration of Mo's press conference yesterday? It sounded like he let out a huge bench when he rose from his seat. What a slob! I'm glad that putz is gone.

Hotter take if the cards stand pat the Mets are the wild card because they don’t lose all of the games without helsley helping them lose helsley also would have blown more game for the cardinals and Svanson and O’Brien would have been on the shuttle bus for the rest of the season and who knows how they would have pitched doing that. So no cards still miss the play offs their bullpen was solid after the trades. Their rotation and offense were trashecleme22 wrote: ↑30 Sep 2025 20:15 pm 1. Bloom has been here two seasons. And I’m solidly in the camp that we can do better than Oli and his Staff.
Having said that I believe you should walk before you run.
There should be a lot of roster moves prior to ST and then there figure to be more prospects(hopefully) emerging throughout 2026.
Baby steps.
If forced to make a prediction right now I don’t see Oli here in 2027.
That being said I hope Bloom makes good moves and Oli proves me wrong!
Re: I don't love Marmol, but let's be real...
I disagree, with only "modest moves" during the offseason, the Cardinals' best starting pitchers would still not have matched the Reds' best of Greene, Lodolo, and Abbott.ecleme22 wrote: ↑30 Sep 2025 20:15 pm 1. I hope Bloom makes some big moves. I hope we are not disappointed with the moves he makes, or especially the ones he does not make.

If Bloom wants to roll with Oli, at least for 2026, I’ll trust him. Why not? If Mo was truly as bad as the consensus around here says he is, and DeWitt is as cheap as people say he is, then we have no talent at the MLB level or prospects for Oli to work with. How can you blame him for that?
But maybe Bloom just wants to feel him out and see how well he works with him. If it works, great. If not, maybe he moves on.

1. It's presumptuous to think Helsley would've been a carbon copy to what he did in NY.Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑30 Sep 2025 20:27 pmHotter take if the cards stand pat the Mets are the wild card because they don’t lose all of the games without helsley helping them lose helsley also would have blown more game for the cardinals and Svanson and O’Brien would have been on the shuttle bus for the rest of the season and who knows how they would have pitched doing that. Also, keep in mind, I said the Cards would've made 'modest' moves in the offseason. And we can assume if they weren't in tank mode, McGreevy would've been a starter sooner.

I think we are in the phase where Bloom will fire Oli in May if the team isn't right.Ronnie Dobbs wrote: ↑30 Sep 2025 20:40 pm If Bloom wants to roll with Oli, at least for 2026, I’ll trust him. 2. It’s presumptuous to think the cards would have been better if they kept all three of them
3. It’s very presumptuous to think whoever the Mets picked up instead of helsley if the cards kept him would have also lost four games down the stretch to knock them out of the third wild card
4. It’s presumptuous to think they wouldn’t have stuck with Fedde as long as they did mo has a history of not releasing bad contracts until at least halfway through the season

Hey time will tell.
I’m excited about the offseason but count me as an optimist most of the time.
As passionate as I get I still try to remember this is just sports and entertainment.
NOT that high on the list of real life issues.
I also follow all the major sports so I don’t live or die with Cards games.
But hey....fandom can take on many forms!
Re: I don't love Marmol, but let's be real...
It's silly to think the Cards would've been worse if they weren't deadline sellers and had Maton, Helsley and Matz in the last two months.Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑30 Sep 2025 20:54 pm1. Fans will vote in spring and afterward.
Talent aside, this team is so weak on basic baseball IQ. And that is on the manager.
