Anyone know if Brad and Chip ripped the cards??
I watched football Sunday so I cannot say with 100% certainty that Brad and chip did not…. I can’t even write it.

Horseradish wrote: 29 Sep 2025 13:39 pm Not sure these types of messages from ownership really move the needle for me, but I guess some fans feel like they’re owned lip service. Results are all that matters to me.
Would you prefer
“The team played well”
“We have some talent”
“We won’t be active much this Offseason”
“We extended our manager so he doesn’t have pressure to win”
I’m not sure if those are real quotes or not, seems like a lazy over-generalized attempt at capturing past offseason statements with disingenuous “quotes”. Either way I’m not sure why any of that matters more than the actual end-of-season standings. Do you really get your panties in a wad over this?
Are you the newly anointed BDW bootlicker??
An owner who says results are unacceptable and will be fixed
Is just the same as one who muddles along year after year making excuse and publicly stating no help is coming???
Go play some pickleball…..
Cohen says things will be fixed, and what if they miss the playoffs again next year? Would you still appreciate Cohen saying the results are unacceptable?

These orgs are in two completely different situations too, so context matters. The Mets spent tons of money, with the obvious goal of winning a WS, and they didn’t even make the playoffs. The Cards were in a self-imposed rebuild/reset and told you that they were trying to build their farm and development system first before getting back to a higher payroll.

So why did you need them to come out and say that missing the playoffs was an unacceptable result when they told you it wasn’t even really a priority?
BDW hasn’t made a proclamation about it being unacceptable since his “This is St. Louis” speech……what was that a decade ago. And yes fans want the Owner, POBO, Manager to give a [fork] about WINNING. Not this “they really played hard” (bleep) and we’re going to Dairy Queen for ice cream…

We are all feeling raw emotions today. I know how much time and effort you have put into this team. The result was unacceptable. Your emotions tell me how much you care and continues to motivate the organization to do better. Thank You to the best fans in sports.

Whether Steve Cohen or his assistant wrote that post, it does seem to capture his sentiments. Cohen is a billionaire Mets fan. He wants to win a world Series. He tried hard to do it and will continue to do so. I'd be ok if the Cards owner had Cohen's level of commitment.

Blah blah blah
Yet another example that money can't buy a world championship. I hope the Mets never win squadoosh.

Cranny, was the Yankees payroll in the ‘20’s the same as the Browns?

Was thinking the same thing.. Owners (just like politicians) have their own PR guys who write their press releases . They come up with the lingo and run it by the boss. He says yea that sound good .. put it out for release.

The teams didn’t make payroll public like they do today….but from the 20’s-60’s there was a 2-3x difference from bottom to top and that was only 16 teams
So it’s not much different today perhaps a bit more extended at the very top.

Unfortunately reform is unlikely, a long lockout is likely

MLBPA has more collective will than the owners

Dodgers payroll in 2025 - $350 million
Miami payroll in 2025 - $69 million

Dodgers payroll in 2025 - $350 million
Miami payroll in 2025 - $69 million
The 10 ten payrolls account for about 2.5 billion

The bottom 20 payrolls around 2.5 billion

So 5 billion split among 30 teams = 170 million per team

Easily attainable with revenue sharing - it’s the NFL model

But the Dodgers, Mets, Yankees, Red Sox, Cubs don’t want to split the pie and the MLBPA doesn’t want a cap

Perhaps MLB should go back to 16 teams…..why should all these small or poor markets that don’t support their teams have a team?
And getting back to the subject…..will BDW offer up an apology for the last 3 seasons of subpar Cardinals baseball, or will his son come out and mock the fans for not showing up and threatening an even lower payroll and worse team?
