Bolduc is impressing up North

Post by a smell of green grass »

Even though Montreal has a large glut of middle forwards, Bolduc is distinguishing himself.

Podcasters are already talking about putting Bolduc on the 2nd line with Demidov, replacing Patrick Laine.

Of course! Laine is horrible 5-on-5, virtually a PP specialist now. Bolduc was the better player LAST season.

Who cares?
Everyone in St. Louis seems to have moved on...you might want to do the same.
I wish Boldy good luck...but there was no way I was willing to pay Boldy 4-6 million dollars after this season to be a third line wing on this team.
Young right handed dman that can skate and shoot are rare and have become somewhat of a hockey unicorn.

If Boldy scores 40 this season....I could care less.

No matter what happens with Boldy this season, I guarantee you that I won't be posting about it on this forum.

The first of many threads by this poster about any ex-blue who produces anything. Bolduc will produce and have a good year. We know that. If he weren't that kind of player, we wouldn't have been able to acquire LM for him. But the OP can enjoy ZB's success. I will enjoy his success too but I don't regret the trade in the least. I like Bolduc and Mailloux, but I happen to be a Blues fan. I'm not really a jersey collector.

WHO WILL? The people who want to hold Army accountable for the Bolduc/Mailloux trade.

WHO WON'T? The people that don't care that we lost Barbashev for Dean.

It's way too early to tell the ending of the Bolduc/Mailloux story, but it's good to know the beginning of the story.

Bolduc was cherry-picked from the Blues roster in exchange for what most would label a dump from the Montreal roster.

My job is to hold Army accountable for his moves. It's not an easy job, but somebody has to do it.

Not at the moment, but this is my contract year, so no worries. I expect to be treated well, and you can expect great content far out into the future.

Contract year with whom?

Great content? When do you expect to produce ANY content worth reading? Management rants don't count.

Well if you're looking to hold him accountable shouldn't you be referencing how Mailloux plays as well? The grade on this trade though isn't going to be finalized this year. I expect Bolduc to have a great season and Mailloux to still have some development to do. I'm more interested in how the trade looks two-three years from now. If Mailloux is great #3 borderline #2 then I'll be happy even if Bolduc is netting 30g a season simply because we needed a young RD more than we needed a winger in the pipeline. Really wish we could have found someone else to trade than Bolduc but that didn't happen so no use crying too much over it now.

Bolduc should be doing well. There is no reason for him not to be - unless he were dealing with some sort of injury. I guess you are just ignoring what Mailloux has done in camp thus far. He's looked solid and living up to the trade hype that was sold by management.

As you said, too early to tell until they start playing games. But it's interesting how you just don't even consider Mailloux to be doing anything of substance. Mailloux was "dumped" from the Montreal roster because of a log jam.

Barbashev said publicly that he wanted to be traded at the deadline because he wanted to play for a team competing for the playoffs. Whether the Blues traded him then for Dean or not he would have just walked anyway. So I guess I don't see why you are bringing up Barbashev being "lost" for Dean when he was going to walk away from the team after the season anyway.

I've made recent posts about Mailloux. I like him so far.

It seems like we beat this horse to death 1000x over the summer.

The real trade wasnt Bolduc for Mailloux it was Bolduc for Snuggerud because the Blues feel like Snuggerud is the better young player on the right side of the top 6. And you are correct Bolduc wasnt going to be extended to play top 9 minutes.

In my mind, Bolduc was lost because of the Blues Management draft strategy. They never select high by choice. As a result, they will never be able to draft another Petro. Instead, they will be forced into unfavorable trades. Same thing with staffing the 2C position. Remember Kevin Hayes?

When fans consider the impact of the NHL draft, they only think about "losing like Buffalo to get McDavid...". They need to also be aware that a draft strategy can also mean "losing Bolduc".

The real trade was
- A proven player that was drafted at position >15
- A unproven player that plays a position that requires drafting <10

That’s great to hear. Montreal is benefiting from how well another team drafts and develops players.

Podcasters ay...?

He's replacing Laine because Laine is out six weeks with a broken hand.
