Draft spot

Post by billybaseball »

Cardinals are currently at 9 and cannot draft any higher(10 or above). They can move down up to two spaces though with a lose and Miami or Tampa winning. The draft looks pretty deep although it's way too early to really know. But there is one potential college superstar in UCLA SS Roch Cholowsky. After him there is way better potential in college bats than there was last year. Pitching seems light behind Liam Peterson but college arms are very hard to predict going into draft year.

Its a lottery, not a draft spot. I'd thought that a lotto entry could result in picking anywhere between 1 and 18, unless we were blocked from picking top 10 because we already picked top 10 the past 2 straight years? In which case we would have to be between 11 and 18.

what you're looking at....we can't and won't pick 10-12...that's reserved for Rox, Nats, and Angels. We currently sit with 9th best odds/pct to win the Lottery for a 1-6 pick.

If we don't win the lottery, we're in trouble....If you expect 2 teams from #7 through rest of the non-playoff teams to win the lottery...if any of those teams have a better record than us, then we'll drop to 13th in next years draft.

I don't care how deep a draft is with certain types of players....losing 4 spots is disastrous...we had the opportunity to lose more earlier in the week...we should've....we would be 7th or 6th in the worst standing if we did.

Marlins cooperated, the Rays did not.

We'll move to 8th before the lottery

9th or 13th if we don't win the lottery.

It is possible that we don't win the lottery and stay at 8. Statistically speaking that is the most likely scenario although history hasn't played out that way yet

I expect at least one team with a worse record than ours...like you said, that's how it's played out so far in its infancy...Cards and M's last year....Reds and another team the year before.

The NBA draft order board is very interesting. OKC just won the championship so their own pick is last. However they traded that pick to another team yet own 3 other first round picks much higher than where they would ordinarily pick. The rich get richer!

Picking 8th wouldn't be the worst thing ever.

If the draft is deep in bats, then I say we go with a bat this time. Seems like we went pitch-heavy last time anyway.
