I think this is a deal where both sides are comfortably uncomfortable.

That being said with the way cap is protected to go up 6.1 is more in the 4.75 to 5.25 ish range now I'd imagine

Cam probably ideally wanted 4, so the 3 was the middle ground.

Probably agreed to 3 with a higher AAV.

Now get Broberg and Holloway done and we are set for the next 3-5 years.

Slightly uncomfortable(maybe a year too long) but I see him aging well so I can live with it. Good to have the top pairing secured past this year. Hopefully Broberg/Mailloux are ready to take the reigns when it ends.
exactly what I thought when they announced it... year too long

You hope LIndstein gets there but he has hasn't had a season in north america yet. I thought he looked really confident against prospects, but not confident in this Blues camp.
I agree with Fowler/Jo Broberg Blues are set at LD for awhile. Lindstein can take on Tucker in a year or so when hes ready
Im not even a huge Lindstein fan, I was thinkin more of Fischer, but their both possible Top 4’s without a spot for awhile with Fowler being here 4 more years. It’s ok not to love every single thing the Blues do, I can still be a fan.
According to the report above, a 2 year deal sat for months, so we can assume that's what the Blues really wanted. It's possible they wanted a 1 year deal but knew that wasn't on the table at all. The last year comes down to a 15-team NTC.

There's the risk that Broberg doesn't sign here long-term, though I do see a deal getting done. Seems more like going with proven veterans into a push to win rather than saving spots for unproven prospects still at least a year away. The way it works out is you have a young player who could play top-4 on your bottom pairing on a smaller contract, like Vince Dunn before he left for Seattle. I agree though, the timeline seems about a year or two off for a couple LHD prospects.
I don't think DA sees Broberg (or Holloway for that matter) being a risk of not signing. Both are still RFAs and DA said he has budgeted for both.

Did Army include a no trade or no movement clause?

Oh I agree. He's done a masterful job locking down the D and much of the roster for the next several years and into transition for the next core while not forcing any young players into roles they maybe aren't quite ready for as the team pushes into competitiveness. LHD is perhaps the only position that is a bit of a log jam long term after this signing. If the prospects pan out, Steen might have some hard decisions to make. Perhaps trade a Dman for a Forward next time around.

Yes. Full NTC for the first 2 1/2 years of the deal. Then on Jan 1 2029 it switches to a 15 team NTC.
