GDT -- UMass @ Tigers -- 6:30 ESPNU

Post by icon »

I'm not going to overanalyze this glorified practice. I'm just hoping the reserves get plenty of PT, and there are no injuries of note.

You might say, in effect, the Tigers get 2 byes before playing Bama at home. Meanwhile, Bama has to play UGA on the road and Vandy at home. That's 2 SEC tilts that could leave them a bit beaten up for the game in Columbia. We shall see.

The schedule is favorable. And the Tigers now appear to have legitimate SEC talent and depth just about everywhere except in the secondary--again. One can only hope it can be fixed in time to play SEC teams with a good passing attack. Like Bama.

MIZ!

There is reason for concern. UMass played Bryant University to within a point.

I'm hoping for a business like game.

Clean up some of communication problems in the secondary and focus on offense and stay away from the mental errors.

If a few starters are banged up it's a good time to get healed up with a bye week coming.

And for Christ sake don't anyone get hurt.

I have no idea why these breakdowns haven't been fixed yet. They occurred too often last year, too. Some of these guys still have no clue as to where they should be in zone coverage. Especially the safeties. Is the coaching to blame, or are some of these guys just not learning? The front 7 has been great. It's time for the secondary to at least be average.

It's been a recognition problem, hasn't it? I mean the secondary hasn't been challenged talent-wise so far and play design is at least as sophisticated as defensive alignments.

UMass shouldn't pose any problems today.

I believe this defense is going to do well against the run even with better competition coming.

That should help scheme against the pass.

When you can't stop the run that's when real problems begin.

All joking aside, today needs to be a stat stuffer. FUN day being homecoming. And really hoping some of our star freshmen can get significant opportunity to show what the future could hold.

hardy injury. hope it's not serious.

whatever it is, sit him the rest of the game. use Roberts and the freshman Davis. we have a bye week next week, if it's a minor injury for hardy, he'll have 2 weeks off to get well.

Pride has been just awful this year. Completely lost.

We just gave UMass their 1st passing TD of the season. Goodness.

What a mistake prone last couple minutes. Clean it up boys.

Balanced attack that series. Good TD. Thankful Hardy is healthy.

Now we need the D to lock it down and the secondary to show what they can do.

If you think this game is going to tell you something the SC and Kansas games didn’t then you are _ _ _ _ _ _
