Busch attendance, tickets sold

Post by 82birds »

from a Redbird Rants article:

The Cardinals sold 2,250,007 tickets this year, 19th most in baseball. They averaged only 27,777 tickets sold per game. Those figures are stark for a franchise that drew 35,000+ fans on a day game during the week just three years ago. The fans actually in attendance was far lower than those figures as well, leading to several days where the total number of fans in Busch Stadium hovered around 15,000 people.

Fan apathy and frustration are at all-time high levels, and the road back to a full Busch Stadium feels long and arduous. The empty seats, lowering ticket sales, and outward frustration by fans have been seen by several other organizations who also once saw the St. Louis Cardinals as a premier organization in baseball.

I was there many, many games and w/very few exceptions there were easily only 12-15,000 the bulk of the games.

I've had season tixs for my business for over a decade, this is the first time I've had this many games go totally unclaimed.

Cutting down from four to two tixs in 2026, not going to eat so many knowing 2026 is going to be a repeat of 2025.

Not to worry. Cranny and his penny-a-point gin rummy group are going to make a generous donation to the De Witts to cover for all the bad fans who refuse to pay a premium to watch Springfield Cardinals-type talent for next year. They’ve got your back, so sleep tight and give a huzzah to the Cranny boys.

It's criminal what they have done to this historic franchise.

Jack, Harry and Mike must be rolling over in their graves.

So, do the tickets you are buying come with an increase in prices? Just curious as I still can’t believe Bill would actually raise prices after this and the last couple of years. To me, after cutting payroll to the bone, employing the services of AA players and promising to do it all again next season, a price increase is the most tone deaf thing a business man could possibly do. It’s a death wish for your organization.

I used to go to about 20 games a year - I went twice this year and prolly won't go at all next year unless High Em shocks me.

They will be back. But the Cardinals do need to continue with their Dynamic ticket pricing to ensure they're affordable for everyone. As Bernie suggested a recent talk show, I think the fans not coming was a show of how passionate they are for the team, rather than the opposite.

They knew this was the only way management or front office would listen so they made their voice loud and clear. I think it's more passion than apathy.

You’ve earned it. You know, the recognition that comes with absurd posts, like ”if you ain’t actually done it, you can’t talk about it.” That’s such nonsense. Almost as good as the ”Moe has a great family” post. Almost.

Rojo - is your post about baseball or the Cardinals? Or is it one of those snarky posts attacking a fellow cardinals fan?

Apparently some posters believe they can do what they accuse others of doing...his hypocrisy is called out in every thread...it's blatantly obvious that it's just a lonely person seeking attention..sad but harmless
