After it won all the Emmys and per my daughter's rec I gave it a watch this week.
The acting was incredible. The story was plucked right from 27 different news stories. I will admit that when I finished I googled to see if it was based on a true story. I won't say anything in case someone wants to watch.
I'm not sure I'd give it a glowing recommendation. Like I said, incredibly well acted and shot but otherwise I wasn't ga ga about it.

So... is this a damming w/ faint praise kind of thing ? Would you watch it again ? We need a 1-5 rating or number of boxes of popcorn, or a rubric of some sort, so we can quantify your thinking.George Zipp wrote: ↑19 Sep 2025 09:35 am After it won all the Emmys and per my daughter's rec I gave it a watch this week.

Looks like a very well-made afterschool special. No thanks.

Re: Adolescence
Classic Netflix: "Let us warn you, dear subscribers, of the danger of young white adolescent boys. The questions and trials they face as they navigate through adolescence elicit deeper, institutional prejudices buried within their DNA which lead to homicide. Luckily, we bring you righteous, dreadlocked girls of color on the playground to deliver a privilege-checking "hell naw" *punch*!" Wreaking much needed physical justice to these dregs of society."
of course the (persons) in charge at the emmys would drown this with all the awards.

Pluses: acting. Especially the kid and the shrink and the dad.
Minuses: cliche story from every headline we have seen over the last 27 months. Ending.
